Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Finally posting my workout - had a very discombobulated (sp?) day. DD woke up at 2 and had trouble falling back to sleep, so I slept w/ her and as a result I overslept and missed my morning workout. I also had errands to run (had to pick up party favors for the class party tomorrow), plus housework and work for my job. It didn't seem like I'd get it all in, but somehow I managed! I even managed a workout - I just decided I'd carve the time out and let the chips fall where they may. I had been planning a more active Pilates practice and this one fit the bill. I did it once before and enjoyed it and liked it even more this time around. Suzanne Bowen (she does the 10 Min Solution Pilates w/ the resistance band workout) leads this one and does a nice job of blending Pilates with her own style of exercises as well as a little dance (toning stuff - Ballet-ish) and a little yoga. Overall it was a good workout. The upper body is also NOT neglected in this workout - aside from the 10 min section dedicated to upper body (a good blend of light weights and body weight exercises) she also gets more upper body done in the total body section. The only thing that I didn't love about the workout was the stretch section, some of the stretches bothered my back - so I'll either skip it next time and do another stretch (or my own stretching). On a rambling note, I finally previewed some of my Squeeze DVD - I've had it sitting here for about a year. I'm on the fence about it - there is some of that dreaded pelvic tucking in this one. But, not all of the exercises require that form and the DVD is chaptered well enough so that it would be easy enough to skip through the stuff that was questionable for me. I may give it a go and just skip anything w/ a pelvic tuck and only do the exercises that I can do w/ a natural spine. On another note, it looks like my DD may need glasses. She flunked her eye screening earlier this week. Now that I have that information, I can see some of the signs - she does squint sometimes - I dismissed it b/c she has really blue eyes and I figured she was light sensitive (like me). I don't think her eyes are too bad though, b/c she doesn't sit very close to the TV or anyting else that she needs to see and she doesn't hold books very close to her eyes - it all looks pretty natural and what you would expect. So, hopefully her eyes aren't too bad. I sympathize w/ her b/c I'm blind as a bat, w/out glasses or contacts the whole world would just be a blend of color! I got my first glasses in 1st grade and DH got his in 6th - I guess the genetics were just stacked against her. Our appontment isn't until December 17th, but her teacher said she'd sit her closer to the board for now. Anyway, hope everyone has a great night!
