Guest guest
Hi All! Vacation was excellent, and we had the best time! The weather was really nice for the most part – sixties and seventies, our ideal temps with a nice cool down every night for great sleeping weather! I love fall! We took the dogs all over the place, and re-visited many of our favorite spots from when DH was up there for school. We went to our favorite beach spot and had a great day playing in the water, running up and down the beach, and lounging. I tried very hard to swim in Lake Superior, but by the time I attempted to go to the deeper water, it was getting a bit cloudy and the temp dropped a bit. I made it in past my stomach and just couldn't take the cold any longer, lol. The dogs has lots of fun too, especially the one who loves to swim. Another day we hiked our favorite waterfall trail and boy – I forgot what a challenged that one is! I was feeling humbled by some of the steep inclines, so I guess I need to do more cardio hills on the tmill! I shudder to think how hard it would have been had I not been working out regularly since June! So, a very nice trip overall and we'll have to make sure not to wait so long in between trips next time. We hadn't been up there in about two years, so we were long overdue! On Wed I did Ripped 1000, and it went okay. I paced myself and went lighter than Jari, but I think I could have done more. I followed the cardio modifications as well, but should have tried some of the easier stuff, like the football runs and maybe a few skiers. I was pleasantly surprised that the cardio segments seemed short and went by very quickly. I was also feeling distracted about house stuff, so I need to do this workout again and push myself harder next time. Wed night I helped DH tear off shingles for about 2 1/2 hours. Talk about a full body workout – argh! I was pretty sore yesterday but am feeling less stiff today. During the day yesterday, I emptied a couple hundred pounds of old shingles from the yard cart into the dumpster, so that was quite a workout as well, lol. Last night was mostly small stuff – pulling nails and prepping the deck boards to start putting the roofing back on. We have 3 parts of the roof close to ready, and have to tear off shingles on two more parts. But the last two parts are much steeper and harder to get at, so we're trying to finish the easier part first. I think tonight is more prep work, as well as replacing some 4' x 8' boards. Those should be fun to get up the ladder, huh? I think we're going to be ready to start re- roofing the part we have torn off on Saturday, so hauling all those new shingles up the ladder should be interesting, too. Maybe DH will come up with something clever to make the job easier! In light of my roofing workouts, I went with just cardio for Thurs and today. Yesterday I did 45 min on the tmill using the hill program. That was pretty nice because I can really keep my HR up without having to move too fast – which I needed due to my soreness, heh. Today I did the 45 min cross train program on the tmill, which alternates different inclines, as well as speeds. I like the variety of that program. I previewed some more workouts during both sessions, and the time really flew by. I'm not sure what to do next week just yet, as it depends a lot on how much roofing we will have left to do after the weekend. I had originally planned next week as Tamilee week, but since I didn't repeat RTTC this week like I wanted, I'd like to do another week of Ripped workouts. So, if the roof project is done soon enough - I'll plan for RTTC, 1000, and Ripped for next week. If not, I'll keep up with the cardio and add in what makes sense strength training-wise. I don't want to do Ripped for the last week in Sept, as I think I need a light week there before I start my Amy/Cathe rotation in October. So we shall see... I probably won't be able to post much until the roof is done, so hopefully we can get it wrapped up sometime next week! I miss chatting with the group!
