HI VERNJUST RECEIVED THE NEW FEE SCHEDULE FROM REGENCE AND NOTE THE 50% REDUCTION.THE DOLLAR CONVERSION WILL BE $34.57 FOR ALL OF OUR APPLICABLE CPT CODES---JUST ABOVE MEDICARE.WHO CAN STAY IN PRACTICE AT THIS RATE??????????MD’s & DO’s HAVE THE SAME FEE SCHEDULE?????WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT THIS??????? , I received my notice last week. I called the rep for BC/BS and ask why the big reduction . She replied that they had not cut the fees last year so this year the cut was larger. I then asked if we could then expect a cut each year or so until the fees reach Zero. She seemed nonplussed at this seemingly cynical comment. With further discussion she did say that BC/BS intentioned to cut fees to policy holders in the future so as to pass savings on to them.

I then noticed a few days later that BC/BS announced a 15% rate increase to their policyholders in Oregon. This does get frustrating!! What can we do indeed? I asked the rep if MD's and OD's, etc were also seeing reduced compensation and the rep said yes they are. Why do I doubt this??
