Guest guest
It sounds like you did great and only had two problems: 1) Not accurately measuring your progress, and 2) Quitting. :-) If you want to know what's really happening and make good decisions, your actions have to be based on facts not moods. It's 100% normal for weight to fluctuate as much as 3 pounds per day for no reason and as much as 6 pounds after a free day. It's normal to sometimes feel huge and bloated and emotional, even in the midst of a VERY successful challenge. It's normal for a belly to randomly pooch if you have too much sodium or too much broccoli or dryer pants or bad lighting. That's why it's important to track and measure your progress with photos and a tape measure. And to commit to finishing 12 weeks no matter what. Maybe on the day your belly flipped out, you'd have been able to check your photos and see that your face was slimmer, your back fat was gone, and your legs were looking leaner. Maybe your weight would have been up but your percentage of body fat and other measurements down. If you are committed to 12 weeks no matter what, then you're not at the mercy of fat days and moods. If you feel ginormous, you eat right and workout. If you feel fantastic, you eat right and workout. No matter what's going on in your head, you keep doing your best every day. Do that and you'll have great results. It's about consistency as much as anything else. People who keep going succeed. > Hi everyone, > > I am new to the board. Guest guest
I'm the same way. I'll feel fat one day and then throw my hands up in frustration. I don't recommend this is for everyone but during C2 I was so obsessed about the scale that I weighed myself every day. Nothing real good came out of it except that after a while of tracking it, I could start to predict when the scale was going to go up and came pretty close to knowing when it was going to go back down of I was going to lose some weight. Knowing when it was gonna go up and go back down helped me not to freak out when it went up. It went up after free day close to 3 pounds, back down toward the end of the week after eating right after free day, I'd lose 0.5 to a pound just about every 3 weeks and I'd gain a few pounds at PMS time which would disappear after TOM. It became so regular that I didn't have to track it anymore and was able to let the scale go a little bit. Once I knew the pattern, I stopped weighing every day and stopped freaking out when there was a weight gain b/c I already knew there was an explanation and that it was a temporary weight gain as long as I kept BFLing. I had some success and some failures. One of the biggest changes for me was that I quit having sinus problems. I was also able to loose a few pounds in the 5 weeks (I never weighed just went by how my clothes fit). The problem was that after 5 weeks I had my period again and after it was done, I woke up one morning fatter than when I started. I was so bumbed after that, that I quit trying. It wasn't water weight either. I usually have water weight before my period not after. I'm going to try again but would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on what I could try differently this time. Has anyone else had anything like that happen. Most of my weight is in my stomach. I truely look pregnant. Thanks for any help with this.
Guest guest
Thanks Liza for your understanding. It helps to know that I'm not the only one that has problems. I stayed away from the scale cause I knew I'd freak out and start weighing myself 10 times a day or something ridiculous like that. I did take pictures and it was good while I was losing but then it confirmed also that I was as big as I thought I was when I gained it back. I still don't understand what happened to just wake up one morning like that. Hopefully things will go better this time. I can handle some fluctuations but not like I had last time. I was wondering what supplements people use on this board. I use one multivitamin and vitamin E and Evening Primose Oil. I also sometimes use magnesium and ground flaxseeds.
