Hi Rick

Have you looked at Davies' book? I believe it is called " Renegade Football

Training. " It can be

purchased from www.dragondoor.com. It is an excellent resource to have for

anyone training athletes.

I believe the Westside stuff can work but you have to realize that those guys

are powerlifters and are

primarily concerned with increasing their maximums in the three powerlifts.

Will increasing your

athletes' 1RM in basic lifts make them better football players?

It might, but there is much more to football than just how much you can lift.

If you take the basic format of Westside and modify it to include some Olympic

lifting and more emphasis

on agility and strength-endurance work it can be more specific to the needs of

football players. There also

needs to be training sessions in the off-season dedicated to general

conditioning(GPP) and speed development.

And let's not forget regeneration and recovery. A great program on paper does

nothing productive if your

kids can't recover from it.
