Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Well, inspired me to do P90X's Yoga X this morning. And, it was a really nice suprise. I hesitated in doing this one for so long because of its length (90 minutes) and b/c I thought it would be too hard for me since I haven't been consistent with yoga. Well, believe it or not, the 90 minutes went by pretty quickly and most of it was very do-able for me. I'd rate it at the level of Eoin Finn's yoga practices - there are some challenging postures - crane, wheel, shoulderstand, warrior 3, half moon, etc. but they are all modifiable (duh, I should have remembered that! ) and workable within your own limitations. I'd say the first half of the workout is the strenuous part - lots of vinyasas - the second half features the balancing postures, the ab work (pretty decent stuff), twists, inverstions (I was able to do a not-so-pretty shoulderstand - so I'm improving in that one!), and postures focusing on flexibility. If the 90 minutes seems intimidating, remember you can split the workout or use the " skip " feature to ff through some of it. A decent practice may be 30 min of vinyasa and then focus on the flexibility/twisting postures to unwind. Tony is subdued in this one - as pointed out he still has a few stray comments here and there and at times he does get into " trainer " mode and starts barking orders (but he even says it may be too much for a yoga workout!). He does poke fun at himself during savasana when he says " believe it or not, I'm not going to talk for one minute! " And, I think he only uses the phrase " bring it " once - at the end when he thanks us for " bringing it " . Overall though, this was a good practice. it is definately on the more physical/athletic side than the spiritual side. I'd say if you can do Kest's (whose yoga practices I think are more difficult than this one), Eoin's or Baron's yoga practices you can do this one. As an added bonus to my practice today, my hamstrings have never felt looser! I so need to do yoga more often. I am having trouble adding it on the evenings, I may just have to dedicate one day of my workout week to doing it - I definately need it. (I also did T-Tapp's Primary Back Stretch twice this morning to unkink and warm up) Gee, I'm gonna miss Tony after this week. I think I'm going to, over the course of the year purchase P90 Masters, my own copy of P90X and P90X+. This may be some sort of Cathe blasphemy, but I'm thinking of trading/selling some Cathes for Tony - I like his approach and I think his workout " systems " make sense - in other words, " hard for a purpose " not " hard for the sake of hard " Take care, Donna ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing.
