, what's a snowsquall, and what kind of museum do you work at? I love museums, and my soul has been thirsting for an art fix for some time. I remember playing floor hockey in PE in school and it was the one team sport I was actually good at. Tons of fun. Why is it expensive? A plastic puck and a stick and maybe a net should be all you need for street hockey, right? Is this done with roller blades? The stairs are KILLER! Sometimes I do 7-10 flights on my pm break at work, and I'm always huffing and puffing at the end, and my calves are what usually hurts the most the next day. When I was good and doing the stairs every day I eventually got up to doing all 30 flights in our building, but I had a very in shape stair parnter whose partner was a personal trainer so he made me work it! I called Randy my Stair Master LOL"L. Stuparyk" wrote: Thanks – you’re doing terrific yourself. We laugh at the whole hockey culture thing. I’ve never been much into it, although street hockey is a hoot to play. Thankfully none of my kids are into it either, as it is SO expensive. Obviously not everyone in Canada is obsessed with hockey, although we all do love to joke about it – we would likely say the same thing as your friends, if we ever lived outside Canada. J That said, I do have a special spot in my heart for Wayne – he’s such a sweetie. Might as well take time here (between snowsqualls!) to catch up on my workouts. Sunday - I managed to get in 90 mins of walking, over 4 sessions. Didn’t feel like doing it the first one, but it got progressively easier to talk myself onto the treadmill after that. Monday – fighting off a cold – only 25 mins walking. No energy.

Tuesday – still fighting – 43 mins walking (2 sessions) Today – losing the battle against the cold, and losing motivation. I’ll see about going for a walk later, but I really should be doing some weights. Just blah, so maybe it’s time to back off for a few days... Okay, so I’m at the museum yesterday, decorating for Halloween, and I have to go up and done one flight of stairs a couple times. On one trip down, I can feel my thighs tighten up. And sure enough, they are stiff today! It’s not like I climbed the CN Tower for Pete’s sake – what’s

that all about? I’ve noticed this before, though, when I do more than a flight of stairs, my thighs protest....and I live in a two-storey house, so it’s not like I NEVER climb stairs. Maybe it’s just the fact that it’s more stairs in one go than I’m used to. I know stair climbing is excellent exercise, but this is ridiculous. I don’t work my legs much (especially the last 6 months), but this should be an eye-opener for me. Talk about lacking in basic functional fitness! Yikes. J Anyone else struggle with stairs? I feel like I need to find a stadium and sneak in a workout with a football team! We're Red Wings fans here! I had some friends from Ontario that were living in Michigan for a while and they said they were kicked out of Canada because they didn't like hockey! That always cracks me up thinking about it! ----- Original Message ----- __
