Guest guest
Vicky, I was just going through some old posts which reminded me of the role of the sulphate in breaking down serotonin. I think its high serotonin which leads to hearing voices. Have you got your son on Molybdenum which would help convert sulfite to the much needed sulphate?? He would need about 200 micrograms......daily. And then really look through everything you have to make sure he is not getting an overload of sulphites as they alone can do crazy things to the mind. They are unfortunately everywhere. They are the e numbers E221-E228, if I remember correctly. You have also to look for hydrolized protein, and also maize, that is corn ( they add in sulfites during the milling process) in food and drug products. There is an excellent yahoo list called no more sulfites where there is more info on where to find those nasty little sulfites. Swelling, mind racing and asthma type symptoms are very indicative of sulfite reactions
Guest guest
I think sugar has sulfites last time I looked :-(( Vicky, I would consider the molybdenum supp very important in light of s present problems. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molybdenum I shall have a look later for some more info. I have to scoot....sorry. Re: Vicky Thanks I will look into that, I have drastically reduced sugar, which was a big problem for him, we are supplementing B6 but only really started, he is on threelac which has finally stopped his shocking bad breath. He is also extremely anxious, always has been, but all the yrs of bad school placements and isolation have left their mark, this is where I think the CBT would be most useful, but also needs to be in special school, unfortunately the special school which is currently MLD soon to be complex needs disagree and think 4th centile is not low enough, should be able to cope in mainstream, which he really cannot, besides his autism he has severe specific LD's and doesn't learn in mainstream, his helper to my mind is of no use to him at all. I used to give molybdennum back in his really bad yeasty days, think it had something to do with breaking down yeast byproducts so they can be excreted? Will order some more, has not had anything like as much supplements as he always seemed so much higher functioning but now he is 13 his problems are becoming much more obvious and to be honest very worrying. Is there a link you could post please, so I can look into it? Thanks Vicky No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
The Independent yesterday has a long piece about an anti-smoking drug which blocks nicotine receptors and (in some people) can result in hallucinations, suicidal thoughts and death. There has been a discussion on another list about nicotinic receptors and people with autism. Try a nicotine patch? Sounds weird I know. They are doing research on nicotine receptor blocking and autism in the US funded by autism speaks. The proposed protocol is a nicotine patch and the nicotine receptor blocking drug. My brother says it makes sense because there are so many different sorts of nicotine receptors. Obviously some of them when blocked give rise to hallucinations (including voices) waking nightmares and a desire to die xx Sally JULIE GRIFFITHS wrote: > > Vicky, I was just going through some old posts which reminded me of > the role of the sulphate in breaking down serotonin.
