Guest guest
Thinking each of the these workouts (upper & lower body) was 20 minutes I figured I'd do both today. It turned out they were 30 minutes each but luckily I had the time! This is part of Dozois' Your Body Breakthru series, it is the toning workouts. I know Kassia reviewed both recently so I'll just add a couple of comments from my perspective. I thought both were pretty good but I really need to get more comfortable with the band. I kept fooling with it trying to figure out where and how to hold it which I know is very individual and just means I need to do this workout a few more times to know how much I really like it but I did like it. Both workouts use a resistance band and dumbbells though a modifier is shown using only body weight at times. Another modifier occasionally shows more advanced moves and I followed her. even combines the band and weights by wrapping it around the dumbbell for bicep curls and something else I think. It was all very interesting. You cannot get bored doing this workout. There isn't enough reps of anything to get sick of it or scream for mercy. I used 10s when she said heavy weights and for a lot of things I probably should have used my 12s. I used 8s for moderate weights and probably could have gone with the 10s on a lot of them. She does a lot of moves, especially with the band, that I was unfamiliar with and she moves quickly so I often missed the first rep or even two trying to set up and then watching to see what she was doing. It would have been better if she would have demonstrated once or something. If I end up buying this (it was from netflix) I'm sure I'd get used to that too after doing the workouts a few times. I liked these workouts and noticed I'm feeling it in my glutes now (and immediately after finishing the upper body my arms were fatigued but good enough for the lower body workout) but I liked the circuit workout in this series better. I'd consider buying this if I could get it for cheap but I have enough upper and lower body workouts that I enjoyed more the first time through that I'd use first. I burned 211 calories doing it and that's okay too. Tomorrow is Tae Bo Instructional assuming I have time between work in the morning and taking DS to a study skills program at his tutor's house in the late afternoon. I can't say I'm looking forward to it but I'm kind of wanting to just see what I can do with it now (if anything more than before). DS & DH aren't home from camp yet and DD wants attention so I'm going to go pretend to be crafty again. She just lost her first tooth today too and can't wait to show them!
