Guest guest
Ok, I'm really working on not getting angry and frustrated by this, but to look at it instead as a challenging puzzle to solve... I started the Biggest Loser contest at our Y on 1/14, weighing in at 148, and in the first week lost three pounds. The next week I lost a pound. Literally THREE DAYS later, I'd jumped back up to 148!! I got it back down to 146 on 2/14, and there I've sat since. I'm doing my level best to be scrupulously honest with recording both what I eat and what I do, in Fitday. (And their calculation for my basal and activity caloric requirements seem to fit exactly with what I get when I run my own numbers using the -Bennet formula). My macronutrients are running around 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat, give or take a few percentage points here and there. I get in my 8 glasses of water every day, usually more. Shooting for more than a liter a day, but that's tough for me. According to their calculations, I'm eating an average of 1500 calories a day, and burning about 2700 daily (basal, lifestyle & exercise combined)-- this is figured over the past month's worth of records. My measurements haven't dropped, either. I do tend to eat out on the weekends, even though I try to hold it down even then (for example, when we went to a Chinese buffet, I filled 2/3 of my plate with steamed broccoli, and maintained a height restriction on there, too). Despite good intentions, I suspect that may be undoing all my good work the rest of the week-- I'm just stumped, really. I don't eat junk and I don't drink even diet soda... *very* little refined grains, and even those are all whole grain flour products, usually no more than one portion per day. For activity, I do a pretty intense weight routine on M/W/F (Muscle & Fitness Her's " Lift to Lean " program from the latest issue-- I can post the details if anyone is interested) and do the Podrunner 3k interval workouts on M/W/F as well. Tuesdays and Saturdays, I do an hour of steady state cardio or a Cardio Coach. Thursdays, I do StretchX. On Fridays, I also do GroundskeepingX, which has been pretty light this winter, but is starting to pick way up now. (It's pruning season again.) My son, who patiently listened to a much whinier version of this rant, suggested I may not be eating *enough* for the workouts I'm doing. Could he be right??? Physically, I've had heart palpitations occasionally lately (I suspect caffeine and MSG set them off) and I'm cold all the time... not sure if those things mean anything or pertain to this at all. I just don't know. But I do know if I can figure this out, then I'll have a big piece of helpful information to aide future clients when *they* get stuck in a rut when they feel like they're doing everything right! Always a rainbow somewhere, huh-- even if you have to get drenched first to see it! Thank you for so patiently listening to me vent, I do appreciate it greatly!
