Guest guest
This morning I did a virgin that I happily received from Sara last week (thanks again Sara!). This is from 2000 and the first mile includes Florine Mark who is CEO or some other title of the Weight Watchers Group (the largest franchise of WW International and my ultimate boss) but they never say who she is or why she's there which I found interesting. Anyway, the first 2 miles are typical low intensity . Florine, who works out regularly (every day I think) looked like an old lady with very small movements instead of more energetic ones, which again, I found surprising but this was 8 years ago so who knows where she was with fitness then. She did ask about following along and said she always feels uncomfortable with aerobics because she can't keep up with the steps. I don't know if that was the truth or not but of course, it made a klutz like me feel better. She talked quite a bit too but it wasn't too bad though I was glad she didn't appear in the rest of the miles, one chatty person is enough! The 3rd mile is faster (a 12 minute mile) and the music is better too (most of the music in this was forgettable). It was the most fun mile but the others were good too. In the 4th mile and some of the others are wearing weighted gloves and she suggests holding 1 lb. weights if you don't have the gloves. I grabbed 3s because I knew from past experience that 3s would be more appropriate for me. This one had a lot of very repetitive actions and I found myself saying "Okay, that's enough of this " once or twice. I burned about 300 calories though and was in my training zone 21 minutes without doing anything more than what they were doing most of the time except holding heavier weights in the last mile. Next time I do this I might try the rebounder for it or add jogging and other higher impact/intensity or hold weights through more of it. It was a really good, long workout for a low intensity kind of day though, which is what today felt like when I chose to do it. The only thing really wrong about this workout is that there is NO stretch at all. I stretched on my own while the tape rewound but really prefer to be led through stretching so next time I'll make sure I have a stretch workout ready to go too (like one of Tamilee's 10 minute routines). I should also add you can do these as separate miles, only does one warm-up and one cool-down though. She comes on in a setting outside the workout studio in between miles to congratulate you and encourage you to do more if you can but they are very short interruptions you can easily keep walking or jogging through. I also did my push-ups this morning. I decided to just start over since it has been at least a week since I did any. I started with column 2 week 1/day 1. I'm going to try Donna's plan of doing each day's plan for an entire week for now. I think that will help me build my strength better and make me less likely to let dread interfere with working on them every other day. I surprised myself today too when I did the first 4 sets feeling kind of tired and then busted out 15 (my personal best too) for the last set where you do max at least 5! I guess I wasn't as tired as I thought. I haven't done this week's plan yet and decided on at the last minute. I'm not sure yet what tomorrow will be partly because I don't know yet how much time I'll have. I'm waiting to hear back from a WW At Work company that wanted a class starting tomorrow morning but I've called 3 times and only got a return call the first time. If she doesn't call by 3 I'll call my manager to see what to do next. Oh well. One more thing: We have SNOW!! It snowed last night and it is cold enough that it stuck (we're at 33 degrees right now and only expecting to go to 39)! It is just a light covering on the grass, the roads are fine. My kids were so excited about it. I told them to expect it to be gone by noon but it is already 11:41 and I don't see it going anywhere yet! in cold, sort of snowy Michigan
