Guest guest
Anyone hear anything about this? I saw it in one of my fitness magazines. Are any of you taking metabolism boosters or fat burners? Just putting out my feelers on them. Your opinion on them?
Guest guest
Tight Curves is something I would definitely avoid. In big doses, soy protein isolate can do some whacky things to your estrogen levels resulting in PMS-like symptoms, bloating, breast tenderness, hot flashes, and weight gain. Tight Curves also contains St. 's Wort which can interfere with several prescription medications. It can make birth control pills less effective, for example. Metabolism boosters and stimulant fat burners don't work. Most don't do anything at all and the ones that do something (ephedrine, synephrine) work by overstimulating your central nervous system. They increase heart rate and blood pressure, making you feel buzzed and energetic (or queasy, panicked and paranoid), but they don't actually cause you to burn many more calories, maybe an extra 100-150 calories per day. If your goal is to get all amped up and burn a hundred calories, it's much safer to drink some coffee and go for a walk. It accomplishes exactly the same thing but with no dangerous side effects. The side effects for metabolism boosters that work include stroke, heart attack, seizures and death. I ended up in the cardiology unit with a heart arrythmia after taking EAS Beta-Lean back before ephedra was pulled from the store shelves. I've also had really unpleasant reactions to " mild " non-stimulant fat burners which, although they don't give you that buzzed, jittery feeling, can make you feel VERY strange, sick and paranoid. Or do nothing. :-) You never really know whether something is going to kill you or do nothing until you take it. What we do know is that fat loss doesn't come in a bottle, and that nothing you take is going to dramatically affect your results one way or the other. If your food is clean, your calories are controlled, and your workouts are challenging, you'll get lean. If they're not, you won't, regardless of what supplements you're taking (or not taking). You often hear that nutrition is 80% of your results. Well, if nutrition is 80%, then workouts are around 18-19% and supplements (all of them) are maybe 1-2% of your results. They're like the icing on the cake, or the candles. If everything else is in order, they can give you a slight edge, but they don't do enough to make up for shortfalls with your nutrition and workouts. Everything has to be " on " already. Supps that work exactly as claimed - creatine for muscle building and workout recovery, flaxseed or fish oil for heart health and craving reduction, and... that's about it. CLA works great in rats and chickens but not so much with people. Green tea is healthy, good antioxidant, but by itself it doesn't make much difference in fat loss. Protein powders are convenient, but they're just food. They won't make or break your results. Well, unless it's soy protein isolate with a bunch of weird herbal stuff in it for women, then it might break your results. Ok, I'm rambling. I'll stop now. :-) > Anyone hear anything about this? Guest guest
No, I don't know - I was never even tempted to try them. The funny thing that every issue of Oxygen is full of these adds - yeah, I know, they make lots of money from the ads but still, I cringe seeing them in a magazine that promotes exercise and clean eating. When you read the fine print, it always says that the results were achieved by combination of these supplements, healthy nutrition and exercise (maybe not in that order, I can't remember).Besides, I detest using any drugs unless I really have to. Even during my period I try not to take Advil unless I have really bad cramps or bad headache so I am totally opposed the idea of taking these supplements.AlenaP.S. My BFL book has not arrived yet, I am getting antsy - will have to ping the eBay seller to find out where we are at with it.To: bodyforlifewomensclub2@...: mccoy_sarh@...: Wed, 22 Oct 2008 13:45:43 +0000Subject: [body for Life Women's Club] Tight curves protien designed for women... Guest guest
I remember one of those Hydroxycut ads in Oxygen a few years ago showed sample meals and it was hilarious. It went something like: M1) protein shake, Hydroxycut M2) 1 egg, 1 tomato M3) protein bar, Hydroxycut M4) chicken, lettuce M5) sugar free jello And I was like, HOLYSNOT! No wonder she lost 30 pounds in 10 days or whatever! LOL On Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 10:04 AM, Piper Boligee wrote: > > No, I don't know - I was never even tempted to try them. Guest guest
Wow that is really crazy. I had a Boy friend a long time ago that was big into working out and took alot of stuff and one was a fat burner. He had a hard time in the bedroom if u know what i mean. That alone told me something was off on what he was doing and made me think that all the stuff he was doing was making him like that. the affecting the bith control pill was enough to tell me NO! I dont like to take anything either, not for headaches or anything. > > > > > No, I don't know - I was never even tempted to try them. Guest guest
I have found that taking ONE Lean System 7 in the morning gives me a good calm, focused energy without coffee jitters and helps a bit with appetite, while still letting me get a good night's sleep. It also helps keep me out of the diet sodas. The reccommended doseage for LS7 is six capsules per day. Once I made the mistake of taking a 2nd one at noon and was up all night. I'm not deluded enough to think it's going to boost my metabolism or make me lose fat faster, but I do like the effects I get from taking one in the morning. > > > > > No, I don't know - I was never even tempted to try them.
