Guest guest
Have a go at putting various things into PubMed: neuropeptide and captopril....and you will find a pile of neuropeptide data in which captopril either succeeds or fails in inhibiting the breakdown of the neuropeptide (i.e. the peptide that works in the brain) Also, look up in Pub Med: Substance P. The reason is that this is a peptide that is found in the walls of vessels and parts of teh brain. If substance P is not broken down then more will happen. Captopril cuts the breakdown of the substance P but does not compltely stop it as most is carried down by another enzyme. Look up: Angiotensin II and inflammation. This shows that the captopril, which prevents the production of angiotensin II will acutally decrease inflammation. Look up: peptidylglycine and captopril. again this is found in the brain. Look up: captopril and NEP and brain Fischer HS, Zernig G, Hauser KF, Gerard C, Hersh LB, Saria A. Neutral endopeptidase knockout induces hyperalgesia in a model of visceral pain, an effect related to bradykinin and nitric oxide. J Mol Neurosci. 2002 Feb-Apr;18(1-2):129-34 Try google and simply put in: captopril and inhibits enzymes brain captopril On all of these you tend to turn up with a pile of results. The problem with much of this is that many of the enzymes that may be inhibited are simply not known and their activitiy is not known either!! In the brain much may happen that is unclear to some degree. STeve enalapril Hi Steve, there is a lot of interest in your views on enalapril as you might expect. Could you post the info on the drug that you mention? One of the Mums has a non-autistic child taking captopril for heart problems. She wondered if captopril would be a related drug Have you looked yourself up in 's book yet? xx Sally ***************************************************************** This email has been checked by the e-Sweeper Service ***************************************************************** -- No virus found in this incoming message.
