Guest guest
It might be worth using the 'ABC' rules - antecedent (what happens before she starts pulling her hair?), behaviour , consequence (What do the people around her do/how do they react? for a week just to see if anything interesting comes up. We've done this with several behaviours and if we do it for just a week there's always a surprise about what we are doing as a consequence - for example - does mum hold her tight to keep her arms away from her head - then it might be a way of getting deep pressure input from a parent? Or does everyone get distressed and so she is getting intense attention which she might find interesting. My son used to headbut me on the nose in the middle of the night and it finally turned out it was the only successful way he had found of getting my attnetion when it was dark (we always keep the lights out and play dead - thius way suddenly there was lots of activity, lights on etc)! Happy to say he's not done it since I worked it out! Good luck, Mel x
