What was K at the time?Tiped sad Send form miiPhone ;-)May your pressure be low!CE Grim MDSpecializing in DifficultHypertension Since I was 5 everytime we moved the docs said the same thing. So everytime they did a glucose tolerance test and I passed out before it was over. And they say well maybe she does, send her to a dietician. I know it was an 80's thing but that doesn't meN no one ever has it? I was tested again two years ago. Dr assumed I was diabetic. Pit me on metformin before any labs came back. After 3 days I had muscle problems so severe I couldn't walk. They carried me to dr and he checked labs. Oops I wasn't diabetic! I was reactive hypoglycemic. So now I keep his notes saying so. Reactive hypoglycemia is over diagnosed. In only dx it if glucose lower than 45 when u are having the problems. Tiped sad Send form miiPhone ;-)May your pressure be low!CE Grim MDSpecializing in DifficultHypertension My dr called it reactive hypoglycemia. Since I gave up (mostly) white foods and sugars, including juices and certain veggies, I've only passed out 5 times in 15 years. Here's how it was explained to me when I was diagnosed: my body responds to certain foods (carbs, basically) by putting out too much insulin, which in turn lowers my BS too much. I've passed out numerous times from this - my BS can drop as low as the 50s or 60s, which I understand to be dangerous. My HTN specialist thinks resolving the PA will resolve this. Guest guest
You need to develop your own DASH book for those like u. The grains, dairy and fruits are out, and I refuse to consume the processed condiments that most of the recipes rely on(low-fat mayo, etc). Guest guest
Maybe true, but I could eat butternut squash like it was my job! Actually I don't, since I'm also insulin resistant and a potato causes my blood sugar to drop too low from the huge insulin release. Lots of almonds, avocado, mushrooms, and spinach though - those are the high K foods that don't give me trouble. > >> >> > > > > >> >> > > > I am sticking to real food too, although i do use splenda sweetener in my homemade raspberry lemonade and coffee.. Just started to do DASH for real. However, there is no way I am gonna live on 1200 calories. I have 800 for breakfast alone, lol. I did walk for 45 minutes last night and I was able to handle that pretty good. I got a ton of weight to lose, so i guess we can just chip away at it one day at a time. Guest guest
I don't know. I wasn't wise enough to collect my records back then. I trusted anything a dr said and took the treatment. The last time I had sugar tested it was just a fasting blood sample. Last 3 times were 89,73 and 68. Non fasting it was 129. I basically was sent to a dietician in high school who told me to eat what I crave, our bodies are smarter than we are. So tKe a moment before I eat and see what I really want. Only exception was to never eat sugar when I craved it and to cut out all white food and treat certain veg as a sugar. So if I eat potatoes I make sure I eat all low fluffing foods with them and eat only half. What was your lowest blood sugar.
