Contrats to all the winners! That was exciting and very generous, Thanks Anya.

While I didn't win anything in this contest, I will feel like a Winner - and the

industry will benefit - from a publically available article on what is - and

what is not - an essential oil*, an issue I had hoped this group might address.

Anya, I approached you first before I joined this group - can you let me know

whether you have had a chance to present my request. Thanks, Sue

*this request came about because a popular, often in the media(the owner was on

a skyscraper sized billboard in Times Square in NYC) cosmetic company is selling

a product line she promotes as " essential oil perfumes " and they contain

ingredients which are not essential oils. THANKS!

Hi Sue:

Have you seen this link? http://naturalperfumers.com/definition.php

Sadly, there are *lots* of companies falsely advertising. The

Guild can't police them, the Guild can only set standards for

itself. I agree with you that these false advertising campaigns

are terrible. They mislead the public and hamper our efforts to

educate the public about what natural fragrance is. I think a

better bet would be for you to interest a reporter for a media

giant, like the NYT, about this. Rarely does an association like

the Guild expose something like this, it's the media. Of course,

a reporter could then contact us for our POV.

HTH,

Anya McCoy
