Guest guest
Hi Abigail, Santi just got his slip for his first x-rays with his Providence, and it is just like all the others, laying down. I think the important thing is that they are consistant with each x-ray, otherwise you will be getting a lot of different readings. I don´t like the hospital I go to for Santi´s x-rays, lots of waiting involved, but because I want to be consistant with his readings, I am anal enough that I stay with this painful hospital....There should be no reason the doctor changes the position that they do the x-rays in...I would definatly question why they want to do it standing up, especially since the Providence is a night bending brace, thus the correction is being done while she is sleeping, not while she is standing. Let me know what they say, if there is a good reason for standing up, I sure would like to know... Good luck with Nadia and I am so sorry to hear about your problems with the casting..Let us know how her curve is maintaining in the brace, I continue to be super happy with the providence, our appointment on the 14th this month will tell us for sure how he is doing in it..,. Take care,,, Kelli and Santiago Abigail Schein wrote: Hi Pam. First of all, please forgive me for frantically trying to reach you the other day! this has been a stressful experience as of late. actually, we did not get a same day laying down and standing xray. the laying down one was done 4 months ago. we don't know what it would have been on the day the standing one was 27 degrees. that is a good question. my guess is that the curve probably got worse this last casting. that would be strange, though, as nadia has never gotten worse in a cast. always the same (just once) or better. i have to admit, we weren't fond of this last cast. it was very similar to the one cast in which we got no improvement- the window in the back was in the same place as that one, which was not on the opposite side of the curve as in all the other ones where we got improvement. at any rate, we also don't know how the providence brace is holding her as her ortho doesn't feel it is necessary to check. he wants us to follow up with him with another standing xray in 2-3 months. Pam, and others with providence braces, did you all get in-brace laying-down xrays? where was the brace holding you at?
