Kassia:Why don't you get cert in Body pump? IT is an Awesome format esp for new instructors. The training is expensive but the best I have ever had. yesterday i was very sore so i just took a day off to do some baking

and last minute food/gift shopping as well as visit my brother in law

for his 12th b-day.

this morning however had to be back to business. this week i wanted to do body pump and other les mills

workouts i friend of mine had given me. yes yes i know instructors are

only allowed these workouts and they can lose their les mills license

for the workouts but we have nothing in our area and it would be nice

to try them out and to see if i can't push to get something in my area.

anyway i did body pump 64. and its broken into tracks. each music track

works a different muscle group(ie legs/quads, back, chest,

legs/hamstrings, etc etc) with various tempos in your sets(like 2up2down

then 2 singles, 3-1 tempo, and the ever so super slow 4-1 tempo as well

as some low-end holds). the music is kickin' and the instructors are

vibrant and motivating. my issue is that i tend to think of this like

any other workout and its not. i simply cannot handle the same weight

for ALL reps as i would in other workouts. i really need to learn to

lighten a little more before i kill myself LOL. i wound up not doing

all the reps/sets b/c my weight was just a little to heavy to do so.

but for what i did i am shakin' fiercly and pretty sure i will be sore

again tomorrow. kind of wish the instructors would make their way here

LOL. if there is anybody that can motivate its the master trainers les

mills has to make these videos!! and the class is QUITE diverse from

men/women, young/old, and all ethnic backgrounds. really makes for a

fun workout but also a very humbling workout. this is quite toughter

then even some of my cathe's IMO!!

so its worth a look if you have a class in your area for sure and

hopefully other instructors are as pumped as these guys are!

off for more baking!

Keep it in the back of your mind Les Mills teaches you how to be an awesome instructor. I too use to be shy but they have given me lots of good material that helps in my spinning class as well. Fitness industry will grow (Ok I study this area) and as they are realizing that it is important part of health there is a push to cover some of the fitness under insurance. I can only hope all my research points to it being a big cost saver!judy s From:

judy i have read on yahoo that fitness related professions are "recession proof" but its quite slow in this area. we have the college's and of course students use the on campus gyms, lots of trails for runners but nobody seems interested in the same kind of fitness stuff we are LOL. and its hard to compete with the YMCA i guess but its always worth checking them out too. maybe they can do some classes for les mills. i can see some body jam for our more urban folks in this city. good thing i did a hard workout been licking some bowls while baking LOL. double dutch fudge with peanut butter brownies anyone? leaving some for santa so he can bring the best stuff LOL.kassia

I love bodypump, the bicep tracks are killers though, have not been

able to make it all the way thru one without taking breaks. Where we

are moving to doesn't have any bodypump/les mills classes at all. I

thought about looking into becoming an instructor, but even though I'm

shy, I think the big issue for me would be remembering the routines and

keeping count, with count keeping being primary. Jari Love's (mainly

S & L) is the closest I've found to bodypump, but it doesn't replace the

great music or the extra " umph " of being in a class and the little bit

of competitivenss it brings to keep pushing you rather than giving up.

I think you should look into PT or fitness instructor. I know you

are very knowledgeable when it comes to working out and you might

find that you have extra confidence so it may not be as bad as you

think it will be being in front of people. From my experience of

bodypump classes, there were always the regulars that would show up,

so it became more comfortable because after awhile you " knew " some

people. But like you, I am definitely much more of a background

person, don't like being front and center, but I did find myself

moving from the back of the class to the front so I could watch my

form in the mirrors and not have anyone in the way.

hi kassia!! congrats on doing some body pump.

i was talking to a local les mills instructor at the grocery

store yesterday (in the produce section of course).

she was wearing a les mills jacket, so right away

i asked her where she taught and which LM programs she performed,

etc.

she asked me if i was an instructor too (ROFLMAO! i so wish!), i

guess because it seemed like i knew alot about the workouts, but

of course i told her that i was not, that i was just an

enthusiast who likes to participate. i didnt have the heart to

tell her that i do the workouts at home via instructor dvds...lol.

anyway, she was nice and perhaps i will take some classes with

her some day, ya never know.

:*carolyn.

Great review, Kassia! Now you see why my eyes watered up when they

took Body Pump off the schedule at our gym! It truly is the best

strength class I've ever taken, mostly because the instructors are

passionate about the class and the music ROCKS!
