Guest guest
Hi all, Some of you were very helpful a couple of months back when we were coming up to review and had to consider mainstream versus resourced unit, and also consider wether to ask for transport ( not automatically provided coz it is mainstream of our choice and within 3 miles of home). Well, we have had a partial success. We are chuffed to bits that the LA are funding an integration program, so that K should be able to attend the mainstream up to 2.5 days per week by the end of this summer term. Waiting to see how they are going to fund the transport for this integration, but a precedent has been set by another boy in his class so that should not be too much of an ordeal. We don't have the provisional statement for next year yet, but have been told that we are not going to be offered the highest band which would be needed to cover him for lunchtimes and playtimes. This is despite reports from professionals saying this is what is needed ( very familiar to many of you I know). I would like him to have the full time cover for the first year at least, even if it had to be reduced later. We could go to tribunal, but I am just considering other options. Does anyone have their child in school less than full time? I was just wondering whether K could finish earlier each day so that his time was all covered by a good standard of support. This would also help me out financially as I would not have to pay after school fees for either boys. I do not work enough hours to claim childcare for the days I work, never mind for childcare on the other days. I would be really interested to know about any flexibility in school arrangements that any of you folk have with your children. Thanks again Sue
