Guest guest
I'm so glad that we're having this discussion because I was concerned about b/c he usually 'goes' once or twice a day, and we were on day 3! He cried himself to sleep last night, so I was getting concerned. He also seemed to 'gag' like he was going to vomit, but he didn't. He did want to continue eating, but we were limited him to less solid foods. It just seems that sometimes the bottom part of the cast gets very tight when doesn't poop every day - and maybe it prevents the intestines from emptying correctly?? And as grows in the cast, it gets tighter & tigheter. This might not have been a case of Casting Syndrome where kids can't eat or they start vomiting (I'm so sorry that any of you had to go through that!!)...but now I know what to look for if the problem become severe. So, after reading, I started getting very progressive with this morning. Prune/apple/water as much as he will take, 1 tsp ground flaxseed in his oatmeal this morning, blackberries, fruit, whole-wheat crackers, and activity..walking/crawling as much as possible....and voila....we have success this afternoon! Oh, I also massaged the area 3 fingers below his belly-button for 3 minutes (under the cast). I used this website: http://www.babycenter.com/0_constipation_11419.bc?articleId=11419 & page=2 Although maybe not directly related, thank you for having the discussion to keep me aware of these issues.
