I am sending this message again (5th time) through this thread, since it

wont come through directly. Sorry, if some of you receive this 5 times.

ISOP had an exhibitor booth at the American Association of Pediatrics

conference last Friday, and I wanted to share with you what I learned. As

we all know, scoliosis is ~NOT~ on the Well-Baby-Checklist (WBC). ISOP has

always wanted scoliosis to be on the WBC, but couldn't pursue that goal

until we had ped. orthos actually applying ET (in the U.S). Well, now there

~are~ docs applying ET in the America, so the time is right! I learned that

scoliosis is not on the WBC because there has never been a good way to treat

progressive infantile scoliosis. Common protocol for this condition has

always been to either fuse the spine and add hardware, or " wait & watch " the

scoliosis ravage the young childs body.. Most pediatricians are/were aware

that there was not an effective option of treatment, for our kids. This has

changed, since the publication of Dr. Mehtas paper in the Journal of Bone &

Joint Surgery, Sept. 05. Now, we have science/numbers behind Dr. Mehtas ET

Method and its time to inform the pediatric community, as well. If the

pediatric community is aware of ET, they will look to diagnose it, and it

will end up on the WBC. The WBC is essential in ensuring proper stats on

infantile scoliosis. As most of you know, many cases of infantile do not

get diagnosed until the child is a juvenile, so we truly don't have an

accurate account of how many children have progressive infantile.

If you would like to share ET info with your childs pediatrician (or more

peds in your area), so other infants/children in your community may have

access to ET, please e-mail me at heather@... and I will

send you a packet of free, ET info.

Thanks for your help!!

Re: Not again

I am sorry to hear this! But, the good thing is that you have been vigilant

and caught it early. If she does indeed have it and it is idiopathic, she

would probably respond well to Early Treatment. I hope all goes well with

your appointment. I will be hoping and praying for some good news for you.
