Todd's 4th cast came off a week before his 5th was applied. Not how

we'd originally planned it, but he'd quit eating more than a few

mouthfuls of solids, so it was time. And boy, was it fun!!!

No skin problems this time around, though there were some pin-prick-

looking bloody spots that went away by the next day.

His back looked wonderful, no more rib hump finally!!, but his

shoulders were uneven. The shoulders were not uneven to start with,

but otherwise, he looked amazingly straight.

The xrays before cast 5 showed a bummer of a progression, however. For

some reason, his curves worsened a bit in the last cast. His shoulders

were uneven in that cast, though, so maybe that had something to do

with it. Again, though, his back looked so straight! We're not

calling cast 4 a loss because it corrected most of the rib deformity.

We were kind of surprised that he'd progressed. He has never looked as

you'd expect after seeing his xrays--when the curves are bad, he looks

pretty good, and when the curves are better, he has looked not so

great. Odd.

Dr Khoury feels we are on the right track and should continue casting,

and that the 5th cast is a really good one. The in-cast xray looks

AMAZING. His curves are 20 and 12. And his shoulders are pretty even.

He wants us back in 8 weeks, but I'm telling you what, I will be

shocked if we make it til then. This cast is the tightest one yet...

Hope that's a good thing!
