Guest guest
Just a quick post about our recent experience with my daughter Teddy, she's the one who threatened autism at 18 months, got biomed, got therapy and at 4 is now nowhere near the spectrum, unlike my son - Teddy gets eye infections a lot - she has a weepy eye due to a congenital condition for which she will need a couple of surgeries to sort out, if we are lucky - anyway, TWICE in the last fortnight, she had to see a doctor about her eyes - two different doctors, and they both handed me scripts for eyedrops which, it turned out, contained thimersol or other mercury additives. Blew my mind. If you suspect your child may be mercury sensitive, best be careful and read labels if they get conjunctivitis or something. The nurse claimed there was no mercury in the drops - I HAD TO TELL HER THIMERSOL WAS MERCURY. A friend tells me some versions have mercury and some do not. FWIW we used an over the counter ointment called Golden Eye, and it worked after 4 days. It is sterile when you open it but you have to throw it away after a week or so, but just speaking personally, I'd rather have to buy a new tube than risk using thimersol. Just FYI Steph (Alasdair and Teddy's mum)
