Hi Kaysa

I live very near Abindgon House in Kensington and I met with the Headmaster (Nick Rees) with the possibility to my daughter joining next September. Although he was very friendly, he said that the school caters for children with "specific learning difficulties" (e.g. dyslexia) rather than more global difficulties such as ASD. My daughter attends mainstream nursery with an ABA shadow and he did not think Abingdon was right for her. It is a lovely school - small, ratio of 1 teacher to 4 pupils, links with good OT and SALT services etc. I don't know what the one in Bahrain is like but it is definitely worth looking at as I think schools like this offer the ideal environment for our children - mainstream but without the pressure.

Hi all,I have been away from this group for so long since we moved from Dubai to Saudi Arabia..so hello again.Basically there is no autism therapy facilities in here so I have to travel to Bahrain for that:-(Anyway..want to ask you all..Does anyone know about or have experience with Abingdon House School in London? How good do they cater special kids? The reason is there is a new school in Bahrain which they affiliate with these people who run Abingdon. They said that they have successfully provided academic setting for kids with moderate learning difficulties in AH. They provided speech therapy, occupational and physical therapy. My daughter is mildly autistic, who currently goes to a mainstream preschool but I find it is difficult for her.Appreciate your views..You can send me an off list reply. Many thanks,TettyMom to Kaysa, 4.5 yo Get fish-slapping on Messenger Play now!
