Guest guest
Hi everyone, I would say my childhood indicators of Still's if that's what they were, were just the opposite of what is described here in the fact that my immune system was very over active. So much so that my lymph nodes in my neck got infected with everything and I didn't catch anything else. I also got herpes virus blisters on my mouth constantly , chickenpox and was allergic to the sun causing a rash that is pretty close to the Still's rash and could have actually been. But I think my immune system fought off everything abnormally until it overloaded when I was around 17 and I got pregnant, had a bladder infection and then shortly after Still's diagnosed within two years. Re: Nannette and all my family here( yes that long winded redneck struck back again ) Re: intro Marty, this is very interesting.. I was also very sick as a kid. Anyway, I find it very interesting that you also had issues as a child - are there others that were also like this as a child. Basiclly just though of as being scene as more vunerable to catch things then your siblings, etc. I am curious because I think this is a clue to stills. Guest guest
Hello to all, I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents about possible childhood indicators. I have recently spoken to my mom about some of my medical history. Also judging from things I have read here over the 3 years I have been dx, I feel I could have had this all my life and never new it. When I was an infant I had FUO's (fevers unknown origin) all the time. I had bronchitis as a toddler. Ear infections all through my childhood, which in most cases required tubes in my ears. I had my tonsils out around age 6-8. Pneumonia around the same time. Chickenpox (whether this counts I don't know) around 1st or 2nd grade. I was born with crossed eyes and had them uncrossed at age 2. I have nerve damage in my left ear which made me partially deaf. Not too sick as a teen. As an adult I had flu like symptoms quite a bit. Then became ill in Aug 05. Told it was flu. Went back to work on 3rd day still sick as a dog. Boss saw me in parking lot barely able to get out of my car. He pointed toward the street and said go home until you are better. Couple days later I was better. Then in Nov 05 I became very ill and spent the better part of a month in the hosp. Dec 05 received dx and have been sick in some form every day since. Body is deteriorating. Need new knee (maybe even both) and lots of arthritis damage in alot of joints causing severe pain. Mom just called me to say that she remembers docs telling her that my fevers were the cause for my hearing loss. Don't know what proof they had, probably just their opinion. Well that's all we can remember. Does anyone else think I am right in assuming that I have had this most of my life? I'm starting to think so. Well that's my 2 cents. Whether or not it contributed to my stills I guess I will never know. Have a great day or evening, whichever the case may be. Guest guest
Brett, I definitely think the fake plastic diamond stuck up your nose was the real childhood indicator to your onset...lol Diane..42 My Mom told me as a toddler I would get high fevers and ear infections and she would get upset cause I had dark circles under my eyes.
