Guest guest
Greetings Bob, Unfortunately, the " all in your head " myth was actually a part of much standard medical literature in the U.S. over 30 years ago. It's part of the old adage: " You can't unring a bell! " Of course, any physician who still clings to this obsolete idea obviously hasn't updated him or herself for over 3 decades and needs to spend more time on current medical updates. Naturally, there are few M.D.'s who still hold to this old dx, but there apparently remains many lay persons who have not forgotten or are still reading outdated sources. These may be the same people who think that 'alternative' medicine makes more sense than modern science and that homeopathic meds can cure all ills. Sure, the " all in your head " advocates are also lazy copouts, not wanting to have to be responsible, caring relatives and friends, so that they can shift all the concern for your serious medical condition back to you and rationalize that there is nothing that they can do to help. If anyone has an " all in your head " problem, it is the one's that are in denial over our very real Still's Disease suffering. Of course, the level of general medical education in U.S. society is alarming and the unbelievable unaffordable medical care costs leaves way to many unable to afford contacting their docs to ask questions concerning other members of their social contact group. All we can do is suggest websites that present concise explanations about the seriousness of our disease. It's always difficult when dealing with persons that think they know more than doctors without researching information themselves.
