Guest guest
We are using sauerkraut - it's really nice and Eddie really really loves it! Tim makes it - he's got a nice simple recipe - doesn't take very long at all. I'll get him to post it. Best wishes, Sandy > > > > Is anyone giving this? Guest guest
I think that at least some of the commercial stuff is pasteurized which spoils a lot of the point. It's easy to make (says Sally who spoiled the one and only lot she's tried and is looking forward to Tim's recipe) Sally Sandy and Tim wrote: > > We are using sauerkraut - it's really nice and Eddie really really > loves it! Guest guest
I'd be interested if it makes any of your kids a bit hyper? We have seen one of these resistance-test applied kinesiologists who is convinced ASD kids have a high level of histamines in the blood. Histamine seems to contribute to arousal. Anyway, vinegar is high in histamine, as are tomatoes, chocolate, strawberries and on and on. We tried to exclude them at the same time as the GFCF diet, but it was just too hard. So much stuff has tomato or vinegar. Pickled stuff is about the only thing we carried on excluding. If no-one is having a problem with it then I guess he is wrong (relief)! Guest guest
Well, sauerkraut and most other fermented foods are ruled out for those children who need a Failsafe diet, which limits histamines and many other chemicals. So I suppose it's a matter of figuring out what is most important for your child, as always. For some kids getting good bacteria into their gut is the biggest need, others may do better by avoiding large amounts of food chemicals and giving their liver a rest. Wouldn't it be nice if things were simpler? :-) Rene > > I'd be interested if it makes any of your kids a bit hyper? Guest guest
Hi Sandy I'd like the recipe. Charlie has eaten the Tesco's one before. Apparently it's meant to improve your sex drive as well - not much use to me at the moment!
