Hi Penny and all,

I was on short term disability starting in May 2001. That went on until

august.Then i had to make an application for Long term disability from UNUM. You

might check their web page at www.unum.com to get an idea how it works. I get 60

percent of my salary that i made at ATT Wireless Services. There was a month

delay in switching over to long term but they paid the back pay. The pitfall was

being nervous about what my rheumatologist would tell UNUM . I didnt know how

serious he was taking me and if he would help me. But he has helped alot.I think

its better to be on short term and switch to long term depending on how your

company's policy is.AFter i went on ltd, i applied for social security but up to

this point i have been denied and waiting on administrative judge hearing.I cant

think of any other pitfalls but if you have any more questions feel free to
