Subject: Advocacy Update

> We want to thank all of you for all of the calls, e-mails and faxes made to

your Senators as a result of the recent Action Alert. Good Job!

>

> The letter, referred to in the Action Alert, led by Senator Carnahan

(D-MO) to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human

Services, and Education (Labor-HHS) in support of $24.5 million for the CDC> '>

s arthritis program was sent to the Appropriations Subcommittee on June 11. We

are very pleased that 13 Senators supported it. The Senators are:

>

> Carnahan (D-MO),

> Ron Wyden (D-OR)

> Cantwell (D-WA)

> Tim (D-SD)

> Durbin (D-IL)

> Zell (D-GA)

> Torricelli (D-NJ)

> Patty Murray (D-WA)

> Thad Cochran (R-MS)

> Kerry (D-MA)

> Dodd (D-CT)

> Warner (R-VA)

> Blanche Lincoln (D-AR)

>

> If your Senator did sign on, please send a note thanking them for their

support. If your Senator did not sign on, it could be for any number of reasons

and certainly does not mean that they are opposed to helping people with

arthritis. Continue to communicate with your Members of Congress-- the more

they hear from you, the more likely they are to actively support efforts to

prevent, control and cure arthritis.
