I agree with you about the rice milk tasting great. I’m so used to it I don’t think I would want cows milk anymore. I have a wheat mill, and have made my own bread as well. I haven’t tried it yet, but I am going to get millet and brown rice and make my own flour and bread. Right now I buy my millet/potato bread from the health food store and it’s $4 for a small loaf. I’m sure I can make better bread a lot cheaper myself. Hugs, Carol Re: [ ] Wheat and RA > > Carol, > This is very encouraging. Guest guest
Hi, I read an article recently written by an aging rheumatologist who reported that only 1% of his RA patients who have tried diet control have had great success. The interesting statistic was that he reported that of that 1%, 70 percent had the positive results from eliminating wheat. I read that article a few days ago. Patsy [ ] Wheat and RA As some of you may remember, I've been excluding wheat and dairy from my diet for about three months now. I still have some pain (especially after demanding activities) but I haven't had a bad flare in quite some time now. About two weeks ago I was out of town and hungry late at night. The only thing I could find was breaded chicken tenders, so I went ahead and ate them. I was sore afterward for about 3 days. Last night I decided to try breaded chicken and fish once more, and today I am sore as can be. I'm beginning to think that for me the wheat really has an effect on the severity of my RA. Has anyone else experimented with an exclusion diet? If so I'd love to hear what you've learned. I hope everyone is having a pain free day, and has a nice weekend. Guest guest
Hi Patsy, My rheumatologist said the same thing, 1%. I figure even a one percent chance is better than nothing. And I really think it's reducing the severity of my flares. Hugs, Carol [ ] Wheat and RA As some of you may remember, I've been excluding wheat and dairy from my diet for about three months now. Guest guest
Carol, Let me know how it turns out. I haven¹t tried using millet or rice in my breads, but I¹ll be experimenting. I found a great blender pancake/waffle recipe that uses whole wheatberries And is very easy to make. I¹ve used Bisquck for years, but couldn¹t find anything to replace it with that my family liked as much. Since the only oil I use is olive oil, Bisquick wasn¹t in my diet. I make cream of wheat and cream of rice by just grinding it. It takes longer to cook since there are no ³quick cooking² chemicals in it, but that¹s ok with me. Oat flour is another very popular addition to breads. Dough enhancer from the Wilton¹s feed site is excellent for enhancing breads and prolonging shelf life naturally using vitamin C and lecithin. Lecithin is very high in calcium, magnesium, B-12 and all 22 essential amino acids, so besides preserving freshness, and better rising, it also adds a lot of food value. Happy baking! a > <<> I¹d love to eliminate the wheat, but that¹s like taking candy from >> > a baby.
