Guest guest
I keep reading as time permits. Summer break from school is when I feel my best although it is never great! I am having so many probs. with feet and knees that it scares me. It makes it so hard to function in a regular world. Friends and family still think I am just a hypochondriac. Little support or understanding. They want me to be like I used to be. So do I!
Guest guest
, I'm sorry to hear about the lack of support from family and friends. That's very hard to accept, I know. It also can't be easy to teach all day if your feet and knees are bothering you so much. What is the latest with your doctors and your treatment? Can't they do more to help you? Guest guest
hi mary, i know that one too. my neighbor stopped by after my water therapy yesterday when i started to stiffen up, so what is it?? she says...your feet? yes my feet and my back, and my elbow, and my neck and my knucle. hell just admit it, it's everywhere. i'd be better off telling you where it didn't hurt. she thinks she has no life because she is fat. she thinks if i would just lose weight i would be back in the swing of things. her friend cancelled a trip to st croix this fall because she won't go unless she loses 40 lbs. sorry i think that is ridiculous. her mom said they can move to florida after she loses 40 lbs!!! what a thing to say to your own daughter!!! i couldn't believe it. my life has not stopped due to my weight. it is definatly my health. i wish i could be me again too!!! kathy in il

Guest guest
HI. Sorry to take so long to reply. Been off the computer for a few days. I had to be taken off Methotrexate. Mouth sores were out of control! I am trying Azathoprine. I don't see any difference. I don't know much about the drug. Of course, insurance won't pay for the one he would like to see me try. He is old school and would love to get me on steroids. I have had relief from steroid shots from time to time. I also have been recently diagnosed with sjogrens and am starting on Salagen. I am on a ration of 12 pain pills a month. Oxycodone. It makes me itch so bad I can hardly stand it. I also get 9 Imitrex for migraines per month. I have ten of more migraines a month! Don't want anyone to get hooked! What's the chance of that? As for doctor stuff. Last November our medical group disolved. My files were sent back and forth from doc to doc within the system and all kept in one file. The GP has the file and we have not been able to get the majority of the RA records sent back to the RA! I have to tell him everything from scratch every apt. Missed the June apt. due to car trouble which just won't go away! Ah! Such is life! in OK
Guest guest
, Why are you rationed to only 12 pain pills a month? RA is a very painful disease and the pain should be treated as well as the disease. Getting hooked on pain meds rarely happens when the meds are used for pain. Azathioprine is also known as Imuran, which is an immunosuppressant. http://www.update-software.com/abstracts/ab001461.htm http://www.midwestarthritis.com/html/azathioprine.htm http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/azathioprine.htm I hope you get your records and can get back to the doctor. a > HI. Guest guest
I asked her why she did that. She said they don't want me to get addicted. I said " so what if I get addicted " I could certainly function better with more pain relief. I have begged and pleaded.
Guest guest
Has anybody got experience stories about the affects of the Azathoprine?
Guest guest
hi speaking of pain killers...i told you my husband works in a herb factory that is canadian but american owned...we live in a land of 33 million people....they produce 300 million ibuprophen in one year...just ibuprophen...not any of the other pain meds....and we keep wondering who is taking this stuff and who is not being prescribed for.. also there is another antiinflammatory that they are making into 650 milligrams that used to be Rx but have determined to make it OTC...so i am assuming the people are fed up with their doctors and just determining to take the painkillers over the counter....we can buy codeine over the counter here without RX as long as it is only 8 mg...so people buy it and take 3....his stats amaze us....who is taking all this stuff.....anyhow i dont know if this is important or not..just sharing sam Re: [ ] in OK > I asked her why she did that. Guest guest
, I am appalled at your doctor¹s reasoning. Your doctor is very misinformed about pain medications and addiction. I sent in a few articles for you to read and print out for your doctor. Not treating your pain can cause many other health problems as you will read in the articles I sent in. Pain management and addiction has been highly publicized so all I can think is your doctor is living in the dark ages. If I were in your shoes, I¹d be looking for another doctor. I Hope you can either convince her to prescribe them or find a doctor that will. RA is a very painful disease and there is no reason to suffer when there are medications to help. Caring hugs, a > I asked her why she did that. She said they don't want me to get addicted. > I said " so what if I get addicted " I could certainly function better with > more pain relief. Guest guest
I agree with, a, . You are not experiencing reasonable, compassionate care. To withhold narcotics when they can safely bring pain relief is not right. The risk of addiction is quite small, and the fact is that they are allowing you to suffer. Shouldn't they be offering you an effective alternative? Why are they rationing your Imitrex as well? If at all possible, I would find other physicians to try to help you.
