Guest guest
Hi Yes I agree with trying everything. I hope minocycline would work for you what the heck in trying. I know that I have had RA for 19 yrs and unfortunately had no benefit at all even with the IV clindamycin that I was taking with minocin for almost 2 yrs.. As far as the doctors, I really do not have too much sympathy. After all they decide they want to be doctors and with that comes high costs. I worked for the directors of a burn center in PA and believe me I know what they paid in malpractice as I wrote the check but it was their decision to choose this specialty. Also during 20 yrs, I watched and worked for doctors and watched the greed grow. Then insurance companies reacted and joined in...Now who gets hurt but of course the patients because in the end we are the ones that pay the premiums to both! When I would hear a doctor complain about a patient or money or anything, my reply was " It was your choice to be a doctor and we all have choices " Feel better Joanne
Guest guest
Joanne, It¹s not to encouraging that you did the entire protocol including IV¹s with no response. When you started, did you have the herx reaction? I started the AB treatment 2 years ago, but didn¹t stay with it because I didn¹t care for the doctor. He wanted me to do IV¹s and would let me do them in my home since it was a long drive. They were going to teach my husband. The doctor never took any blood tests or examined me. I was on 2 different meds in the beginning, and herxed like crazy. The doctor said this was a good sign and meant that I would probably benefit from AB¹s. After 3 weeks of the 2 meds, (one was allopurinol, I forget the other) I went on tetracycline. In my subsequent visit, still no blood tests, so I never went back. I¹m sorry the doctors you worked with were so greedy. I can¹t think that all doctors are in it for the money. Maybe if I were in your position, I¹d feel differently. I¹ve been blessed that I¹ve always had good medical coverage. I also have 3 doctors in my family, 2 of which never sent a bill. Those that couldn¹t afford the care got it anyway. We often talk about the current state of the medical profession, but there are no easy answers. The Doctors blame it on the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical companies, the insurance companies blame it on the doctors. The whole system stinks. I wish I had answers. I used to think socialized medicine was the answer, but looking at England and Canada, they don¹t have availability to the new expensive meds either. Waiting lists for surgery can be many months if not years. I keep hoping that the government will add prescriptions to Medicare. They say it is getting closer to being approved, but they sure do drag their feet. Company execs are paid millions, and that in my humble opinion, is the root of the problems. I hope your moving preparations are going well. Did Arizona give you any relief at all? a On 6/18/02 5:30 PM, " boop " <boop@...> wrote: > Hi > Yes I agree with trying everything. Guest guest
Hi a I think AZ gave me some relief however did nothing to slow the RA down. What a shame about your experience with the antibiotic treatment. It should never be that way and if you feel that you are not getting the labs, etc needed for a specific treatment then your confidence goes down in the doctor...maybe with another doc? Yes I had a severe herxheimer reaction but interestingly I get it on every new serious med they try me on. I have taken MTX a few times before but just started again and darn if I am not worse than ever the first month or so. Still waiting to sell my house to move to Fl..... Blessings..
