I would

place directly on the cast, under clothes for maximum cooling ability.

Yes, they are machine washable. Not sure about the shrinking factor, so

please let me know. Cooling vests are sold for adults. If I remember

correctly, they look like scuba diving suits and cost a minimum of $150.00,

depending on the size.

Glad you like them!

Re: I got the cooling vest!

OK I have 1 more question......washing the

vest.

Just throw in the washer I assume? I think I will hang to dry unless you

think it might shrink a little.... could use that.

Thanks, Tasha

Rochelle & Shara - thank you for taking an idea and making it

happen so that our children can benefit!! We used it at the zoo over

the weekend, and stopped sweating for an hour while we enjoyed

the animals. It's so nice that we can go out in the heat, put the

cooling best in the cooler and have it if we need it. It's amazing

how you designed it - it doesn't condensate water at all.

I did have some of the same questions as Tasha. We just used it as

the shirt (not under or over) at the zoo because it was cooler that way.

So, my husband & I were wondering...why don't we make these for adults

too?! :)

Connie,It would have to go over the brace because of the cooling packs. is in a brace so I will probably take his shirt off and put the vest over his brace and brace shirt. You know how hot it has been here the last couple of days and more to come.I am in hopes this will really help when he is outside. He gets hot so easy.TashaPS-how is doing?tovi39@... wrote: What about kids with braces? Under or over the brace. To all who have questions about the cooling vests -- the vests were made to go on the outside with no shirt over the top of them. This way air will circulate through the front where the hole in the cast is. The pockets do go in back -- so the cold is not directly against the skin on the tummy.

Yes, they are machine washable and dryable. I prewashed them before sending them out so they should not shrink (I don't think they shrank anyway). I washed them in warm water and medium dryer heat.

I am so happy everyone is so pleased with them. I had no idea when Rochelle asked me to make something for Devyn to keep him cool that it would take off like it has. We do definitely need help to get these made. I am now working full time(and then some -sometimes 12 hrs a day) and just will not be able to keep up with the demand.

Tasha, 's wound completely opened to the point where I saw the shiny

titanium of his veptr rod. It was frightening. We got to ish rite a day

early but the removal of the rod was on Tuesday. His wound is now opened and has

a wound vac dressing which will allow the healing at a much quicker rate.

Hopefully it will be removed by Friday and closed up. He is doing really well

with all of this. He is a real trooper.

Shara/Rochelle,

I have a friend at church whose grandaughter is on a 3 year waiting list to see a neurosurgeon at Childrens. Does this sound right to you? Is there any way they can get in sooner. She has some sort of diagnosis which causes seizures. They are also looking into KC. I told them I would ask around and see what I could find out. thanks for any help!

That really does not sound right!!! I could see 3 months but 3 years????? I would suggest she call back and try again. I think Rochelle is working today but I will email her at work and ask her what she thinks. I'll let you know if she has any better ideas.

Shellie -- I just talked with Rochelle(her internet is down until tomorrow) and she said she would recommend either Dr. Winston or Dr. Handler. She said they should call Dr. Winston's secretary, Faczak at and tell her they were told 3 years for an appointment. Tell her the child is having seizures and see what she can do. A lot of times if they just call central scheduling it does take longer but 3 years is unthinkable!!!!
