Guest guest
Lately I've had a very stiff and hurting neck when I wake in the mornings. I don't know if this is RA or not. I understand that it does not effect your back or neck. Does anyone here have this problem? Also, my hands are really swollen in the morning. Sometimes to the point where I can't bend my fingers. It does go away about any hour after I take my meds. My next appointment with my roomy is on Thursday. I hate sounding like a big baby but are there certain questions that I should be asking him? Like - if my present meds aren't working, what other meds might work for me? Got any clues? Thanks For Being Here Everyone! Guest guest
Hi there i dont think any question makes us sound like a big baby...i have an appointment next week with a new doctor and already i feel angst..running around in my head...do i say this or do i say that..how do i priortize symptoms...sometimes i wish ra was a cut and dried disease...cut your knee...get sutures..remove sutures...ouchies then heal...this is a strange malady that in my mind confuses the heck out of me..and the doctors...with limited treatment options..though that is changing now i believe.. i know when i first came to the group i was panicked and trying to figure out what was going on...then it seems you come to some kind of terms with it and manage it...but as soon as you manage it something else comes into the mix... my head is always swirling with ...what did i do to cause this..is this something to worry about...and to be honest...i dont trust the doctors with the knowledge of ra...not because they dont try...i just think it is one of those diseases that is so bizarre in its symptoms and process of diagnosis...and treatments... i have been very quiet because of the doctors appointment..trying to determine what is important in the limited time space... my face muscles in my cheek is being attacked...twisting and burning..do i say something as it starts to deform or talk about the other priorities.. the proverbial question..what other meds...goodness...i wish this thing was so clinical that there was an anser.. i dont know what meds you are on...i am so very sorry they dont seem to be working...somehow emotionally i feel wilted already from just the thought of going to see another doctor only to be told....well gee... goodness do i sound cynical...i dont mean to...well maybe it is a side effect of doctors and meds.. i remember one doctor speaking at an arthritic event..she said..you know we dont get paid as most doctors who perform surgical procedures so we have to shuffle the patients through...in a room of over 100 people i got up with my husband and left in total despair...not for myself and husband...but for all the human beings who had to hear that .. i wish there was a little book with answers...if it were me..which it will be...i will be presenting a logical piece of paper to him....visual reference...with prioritization and concerns...realize he does not have much time and get in what i think is important........that i want addressed....options for treatment.....what has progressed or digressed and side effects like the horrid bruising on the doxy....what does that mean...do i keep turning my eyes to the situation.. oh i am rambling..i am sorry... we are not big baby's ...i think we all navigate this disease with great courage ... i truly wish your time with your doctor will be effective and that something good will come from it for your relief of pain, symptoms and concerns... hugs sam [ ] Good Afternoon Everyone > Lately I've had a very stiff and hurting neck when I wake in the > mornings. Guest guest
Dear Suzy - During FM flareups, I have a lot of morning stiffness and swollen hands and it goes away after an hour or so. It is very hard to get out of bed on those mornings but as soon as I do and I get loosened up, I feel better. I also have swelling and pain in hands due to a pinched nerve in my back. Massage and chiropractic have helped.. I have to take Elavil at night to sleep otherwise I continually wake up with numbness and pain and then it is worse due to lack of sleep. Wishing you a restful night. Iris --- susiejd123 <sasjdelano@...> wrote: > Lately I've had a very stiff and hurting neck when I > wake in the > mornings. I don't know if this is RA or not.
