Guest guest
Sam, I’m interested in knowing more about your Chinese Dr. Do you use acupuncture and Chinese herbs for your RA? I was thinking of giving acupuncture a try. I’ve used it in the past, with some success. Hugs, Carol Re: [ ] HRT hahah goodness grabs glasses and still can hardly see the print on the label.. it is called meno plus made by a canadian comapny american owned...(no longer in production husband works at office so got me 4 years supply)))but it haswild yam tumeric(for the ra which is a bonus)) red clover...ostivone isaflavones and soy isisaflavones for the bones..balck cohosh......plus i take a combination of 15 herbs put together by my chinese doctor ...i also take all the other supplements for ra...goodness i spend my day swalling herbs and doxy...and 3000 mg evening primrose oil for both situations... thanks for the info about the html situation..certainly understandable... sincerely sam((and still no caps for the hands...save em anyway i can.hehe Re: [ ] HRT Carol & Sam, I am so glad to hear that you are successful with your natural hormone therapies. I am very concerned at the way woman are prescribed HRT¹s even if they don¹t have symptoms or only have mild symptoms. It is a very well known fact that HRT¹s seriously increase the risk for breast cancer for those on HRT for more than 5 years. Even the hype that it increases bone mineral density is a bunch of bunk because after the first few years, there is no benefit. When my period stopped suddenly last year, the first thing my doctor wanted to do was give me estrogen. I refused. I¹ve never had any symptoms, so why take another drug? Mother nature intended for my hormone levels to drop and unless I have unmanageable symptoms I¹ll never take them. Some people have no choice, but for those that do, I wish they would explore things other than premarin and related drugs. I feel so bad for those poor horses that are used to make premarin. Sam I¹d love to know what you use. I¹ve been reading up on alternatives for a few friends of mine. a
Guest guest
Hi there.. in regards to acupuncture for RA it gives symptomatic relief((however do not get it in an inflamed joint))...it relieves pain and gives one an overall feeling of well being...as to the pain in the joints it does not per se remove the pain from the joint...but it stimulates the nerve center and endorphins which help with the pain....when i get an acupuncture treatment i always ask her to treat my liver...so that it can more aggressively remove toxins...that night after acupuncture i dream of pretty colours.. my husband has the same disease as me and he gets the electrical stimulation in order to increase the effect...i dont care for it.. my doctor has told me straight out that there is no cure for it..and wont fool with me in that regards..but that she can definitely provide symptomatic relief ((((((((however she knows western medicine is needed also)))) the combination of herbs she gives me are called HERBS FOR CIRCULATION...now circulation in chinese means that it tries to fix the organs that are most affected by the disease she is treating the body for...so in my case it is the liver and kidney that she is trying to detoxify with the circulation herbs...she also gives me a compound of herbs for digestion..which means that my stomach and liver and pancreas to absorb the nutrients from the food....so that i never have an upset bowel...and my hair has grown back quite thickly..complexion changed...however as with chinese medicine it is not a quick fix...it takes 3 months to treat the organs..they dont treat symptomatically.. one thing she truly talked to both my husband and i about was to NEVER eat or drink anything COLD...to wear wind pants on our legs in any wind or cold or dampness.... she says in western culture we wear clothes as women tend to dress lightly in cool weather and for attractiveness instead of function...and that is the worst thing.. there are two approaches to acupuncture...the western and the chinese..they insert the needles differently...she was a doctor over in china...came to canada and cannot be a canadian doctor unless she studies through another full medical program..but she is a medical doctor....that is the difference with acupuncture...i know i talk to people who take weekend seminars for acupuncture as an adjunct to say being an athletic therapist and consider themselves acupuncturists...it is too tricky and too many meridians in the body to fool around with.. also in china town they sell a rheumatic tea....arthritis as seen by the chinese is a DAMP condidtion so you remove the damp from the body...and i mean internal dampness... she also tells us when to reduce the treatments...as much as she is a business women and doctor she does not steal your money...and calls back in the evening.. when i started the doxycline i needed nausea herbs.. i take everything herbally first....the herbs are a compound of teas which are ground up and i make 300 herbs from 7.00 worth of teas...it is hard on the hands.. she is also taking me through menopause naturally as in china most women dont get hot flashes... i have been seeing her for a few years..my husband had high blood pressure severe for a year...within 3 months of seeing her he got it stabilized and never takes anything westernly ....he had 4 acupuncture treatments within two weeks..was on 4 herbs a day then down to 2 a day then one a week then none... i love her and if she moved away i would have her mail me my herbs...and i trust her implicitly... from all the doctors i went to she was the one who knew before anyone what the problem was i am a herbal freak before western medicine...alas i am forced to take the doxycline and so very greatful it was prescribed to me and my husband as the first line against this dastardly disease...as i believe from all the research that is where remission lies.. or its sister drug minocin.. does this help.....hands are sore hugs sam Re: [ ] HRT Carol & Sam, I am so glad to hear that you are successful with your natural hormone therapies. Guest guest
Sam, thank you so much for such detailed information! I know that must have hurt your hands, but it really helped me. The time in the past I visited an acupuncturist, I remember him saying about the cold foods. This was before I was diagnosed with RA, but had some symptoms. He was from China, also. He did the electrical stimulation with the needles, and I would feel better for a few days afterward. I moved, so I stopped seeing him. Maybe I will look an acupuncturist up here and start again. I considered asking my doctor about antibiotic DMARD’s, but I am hesitant. Even though I’m diagnosed with RA, a lot of my symptoms could be lupus. He told me in the beginning that because of my joint severity he’s diagnosing RA, but lupus would be a close second. Minocin can exacerbate lupus symptoms, or even cause it. I just don’t want to take the chance. Also, I’ ve read a lot about Candida (yeast related problems), and don’t like the thought of that getting out of hand from antibiotics. I am anxious to hear how you do with it, though! I’ve long been nutritionally minded, as you are, and I had my RA symptoms for years before I spoke with my Dr. about it. I tried many things including the Candida diet for about a year and a half (with antifungal herbs). I’ve tried to strengthen my adrenal gland, and to keep my body alkaline. Presently I’m on my wheat free, dairy free diet and am juicing (usually spinach, carrots, celery and ginger). I try to limit my sugar intake, and am going to start exercising next week. :-) I know I need to, but I dread the pain I feel afterward. I read this newsletter by Dr. Mercola. He’s an MD, but takes the alternative medicine viewpoint. He’s very supportive of the antibiotic regimen, as well. He keeps talking about this EFT technique for emotional and physical distress. It balances the energy in your body. To be honest, I tried it with the most skeptical of minds. It seems ridiculous. But, strange thing is it seems to work. I did it for some depression I’ve been having and I felt better this weekend than I’ve felt in ages. That’s what got me thinking more about the acupuncture. If you or anyone else is interested, the manual is at http://www.emofree.com/EFTmanl.pdf . It’s 88 pages, but I think the technique is around page 31. If you or anyone tries it, let me know how it goes. Thanks again! Guest guest
hi there minocin from what i have read does not bring on lupus but can bring on lupus like symptoms...i take doxycyline which doesnt for some reason.. the yeast situation can be controlled...with acidophilous...as for the vaginal situation...i use a chinese douche once a week...here is an interesting story about yeast...i was given some antibiotics for a bladder infection...i was sick for over a year with overgrowth of yeast...tried everything...went to infectious specialist doctors...lost 40 pounds coming off sugar..they thought i had aids i was so thin....that was when i started with the chinese doctor...gave me a bag of herbs..boiled it up and used it as a vaginal douche...GONE after a year of crap....my husband and i are taking the doxy and no sign of yeast ....he even drinks wine on it...i eat tons of garlic and onions in my food which keeps the natural flora...i have no trouble but it has only been three months...it would not be any concern to me.....well i shouldnt say that..when i took my first doxy i cried....for i knew it would be a life time way of life...but i am long since past that....and the sun...it isnt good to sit in the sun anyway.. when i first got this crappy thing along with my husband we went into the bowels of research...we struggled with knowledge and information and determined and was given the choice of doxy or plaquenil....we chose the doxy as it is the least harmful with best chance of remission.. i guess one of the most potent books i read was in concert with dr browns protocol..http://www.ra-infection-connection.com/ it is not for the light minded as it is extremely in depth about the cause, treatments but endorsing dr brown.. she is listed there on that web page via email and she will reply to you...i bought the book as it is not available in canada and was quite pleased with what i read.. in summation she has ra...is in remission from minocin...i talked with her about doxy and minocin...they are related as sister drugs....she prefers minocin....as it penetrates the cell wall faster...doxy does not penetrate the cell wall quite as fast but has fewer side effects.. have you read the road back by dr brown of people who tried everything then went on doxy and got their lives back..as a a matter of fact the lady advocates his protocol so strongly she appeared before congress...it is all in the books...by henry scammell..his long time cohort... dr mercola has some good information...www.drweil.com and there is a site called riverside clinic by dr franco on the internet who sets out the same protocol..he specialized in the antibiotic protocol.. i am a strong advocate of healthy eating and dietary supplements...have been for over 25 years...i got a virus...i got ill...my husband got a virus he got ill....ill by definition being sero negative RA.....there is a virus/fungus/bacterial catalyst to this disease in my opinion and for me doxy is the way to go.... i would read the protocols...some doctors totally refuse...some are connected to pharmaceutical companies...take the johns hopkins site....they dont even list doxy or mino..but if you see who represents their web page you will understand.. as dr brown said a long time ago...it cost 400.00 to treat with doxy and 18,000 with other drugs... the biologics are proving interesting though... there are so many clinical trials going with new drugs.....i have personally concluded that if i get to the point where i am going to be permanently damaged and the biologics are offered i would truly consider.. go for the acupuncture...you knew it helped before...i would ask for input from the group about the yeast if you are concerned and what others are experiencing.. hope this helps...it is a lot to take in.. hugs sam.... Guest guest
Sam, Thanks so much for all the info. It sure is something to think about. It sounds like you have a very knowledgeable doctor. When you see her again, could you ask her a question for me? Can you ask her if it¹s true that deer antler is the second most often used ingredient in Chinese medicine? I¹ve been researching the use of deer antler in arthritis, and it seems that it has been used for many years in the treatment of arthritis. It is a form of oral collagen. I was in a study for oral collagen, and the study nurse always told me how many people were doing well, but the study was suddenly halted. Recently I found an article that say it was effective, but no one will fund the study because there is no money in it and they are trying to market it as a supplement. There isn't much difference between deer antler and chicken cartilage as far as them both being collagen. Gee maybe we should all be chewing on deer antlers? Guest guest
Sam, I¹ll see if I can find the Chinese translation. What I meant by money to be made, is that natural remedies are not researched because no one will spend the money researching a product that they can¹t patent. I also believe God has given us everything we need. Many of our meds are chemical imitations of naturally growing herbs. They don¹t use the herb because it can¹t be patented, so they make a formula that they can patent. Yes, I found a site online that sells the deer antler. It is directly from Australia. There was a US site but it was triple in price even with the shipping. I¹m considering trying it, but not now since I¹ve added the minocycline and upped my mtx so I don¹t want anything else new right now. Hope you¹re feeling well. a > hi there.. > i can ask her...though they need the chinese translation...but the new one > which she cant import into canad is thunder god vine > > http://arthritisinsight.com/medical/alternative/thunder.html > > there are a millieu of articles around about it and i think one sight in > recall was johns hopkins alternative..or one of your big clinics...sorry i > cant recall.. > > your comment about it being made as a supplement makes it sound like there > is money to be made and results to be gained...i have not heard of that... > > actually if you want to know something..one of the teas she gave me had a > dried huge bug in it....i asked her next time sans bug............tea a la > buggless...hahhaa........... > > i ordered tons of chinese books from the library with nice graphics to > define the different elements of chinese medicine...some of the stuff is > quite amazing.. > > it is now a 23 billion dollar a year export.. > > you know the thing that always rings in my head is that i believe God gave > us everything on earth to deal with things...for instance valium is from the > herb valerian..or herb root not sure which part you munch on..but then man > determined to get involved in God's little factory and now it all comes with > side effects.. > > so will you take deer antler...people put on their walls..maybe they > silently munch em at nite...hahha > > i mean chrondoitin is made from beef trachea... > > so are you able to attain the antler????? > sam
