Guest guest
welcome to our home. sorry you had to look for us but glad you found us at the same time . You are lucky in that your mother did some research and had some knowledge some thing many of us did not have . It also seams that now days the DX dose come sooner then it did in the past also. Your doctors also seam to be attracting hard and fast so that is good also in my book but like every thing with stills how it is changes from each person be it the stills it's self or medications or the treatments . this also includes any things we all say here as there only personal opinions based there own experiences with it all. so see in that case your also now an expert and a novice at the same time like the rest of us old or new here. so again welcome and we do look forward to you sharing with us hugs the rednecks Marty & G. the redneck's my space http://www.myspace.com/martyg58 To learn about Stills Disease http://www.stillsdisease.org/stills_info For conservitive minded people http://www.americac2c.org " If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group, I have not been here long myself. My name is , 42 yrs old, and I live in Arkansas. Having support is great and people who understand what you are going through. It is great you were diagnosed so quick. So many of us struggled for years before being diagnosed, its great that you did not have to endure the constant blood tests and numerous other tests ruling out all other diagnosis. Stay strong and be well, there is alot of information, remember all of us are different, that is one thing about Still's usually there are no 2 cases alike, but you can gain knowledge about this ugly disease from many sources. My name is and I recently was diagnosed with Still's a little over two weeks ago. The fevers started Nov 17th and I was reaching 104 degrees at least 4-5 times a day. Had a visit to the ER and several visits to my normal doc without any luck. My regular doctor thought I might have had something called HSP virus. My mom, being a nurse, looked it up online and thought the best doctor to see for this kind of virus was a rheumatologist, luckily for me! Within 20 minutes of meeting my doctor and some basic tests she informed me that I had one of two things, either lupus or something called Still's disease. Two weeks later I got my test results back and like the normal still's blood work I was negative for lupus and RA, but had the high ferratine level along with the other indicators. I feel lucky being diagnosed so fast and getting it under control before it had the opportunity to do much damage. I have since started once weekly 50mg of Enbrel injections and i'm still on 15 mg of prednisone (i hate the way it makes me feel sometimes). Before being diagnosed I was a college athlete and actually pitched in the Women's College World Series of softball. I graduated last year and I'm now a CPA in Chicago. I still try to get in 3-4 work outs a week, but have been forced to shy away from the running because my knees have been the worst part by far of being diagnosed with Still's. Well that's a little more about me, I look forward to the discussions and the information exchange that we can all benefit from on this website. I hope everyone is having a good day. Guest guest
Hello Welcome to the group. You were diagnosed early which was good news and has given you a head start with getting your medication quickly. It must be really difficult if you are an athlete as you are to have to adjust your lifestyle, but it seems you are doing quite well at the moment, keep up the good work and call on us if we can help Best wishes Joan U.K.
