Guest guest
We used this diet for about a year. There is a good little summary in paperback by Freeman and Millicent called 'The Epilepsy Diet Treatment.' Hopkin's in land has been a big proponent of it all through the years. It did work for seizure control but was soooo restrictive-it makes gfcfsf, scd, lod look enticing. She was able to taper off her seizure medication on it. We did see self injury and beginning of a tourette's like behavior - both new to her. Both of these resolved when the diet was discontinued. This was aprox 10y ago and before I was able to find anyone to do any testing[EFA, Amino acids etc]. I was not attentive to what kinds of fat I was using and had no clue what my daughter's needs were. She still does much better eating a higher fat pattern but that 80-90% was no fun!
