Guest guest
Lots of good tips. Thanks Chris. I also found (by chance) about the hernia when I went for the lower & reg. colonoscopy , just because I entered the age braket, acording to my OBGYM. But I've had stomach problems since I was a kid. Coudn't burp. They'd give me baking soda powder wt. lemon juice.juck !! but it worked. I find that the chewables (non brand)Sodium Bicarbonate work better than the prescriptions.!! Take care, VIVI **************One site keeps you connected to all your email: AOL Mail, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail. Try it now. Guest guest
and every one Most of the things on your list I have tried and most have worked to a point. the raising the head of the bed was the best one but do not do it with pillows as that only squeezes your stomach and makes the problem worse you have to raise your head by a wedge between the box spring and mattress and or the bed frame it's self. now the one part you did miss is were I am at and that is if left untreated it can as it has for my self damage the esophagus. this can be by perforating it or burning it to wear the body tries to repair it the best way it can and that is by changing the cells of the esophagus to be more like the lining of the stomach or intestines for the lower 2 or 3 inches of the esophagus were it meats the stomach. This is what mine has done. Once that has happened there is no way to fix it but with surgery from minor to major all dependent on health and degree of encroachment. They also say that any one with GERD has the Heitial Hernia but not ever one with the Heitial Hernia has GERD. And every one with Barrett's disease has for the most part the other two but not every one with the other two develops Barrett's. Barrett's Disease is not very conman (just my luck again LOL) Barrett¢s esophagus affects about 1 percent1 of adults in the United States. The average age at diagnosis is 50, but determining when the problem started is usually difficult. Men develop Barrett¢s esophagus twice as often as women, and Caucasian men are affected more frequently than men of other races. Barrett¢s esophagus is uncommon in children. it also has some of its own cases of some rage problems and for my self the sad part is it runs in the family on my fathers side not the Barrett's but the rage complication of it. o well just as stills is rare in men over 40 so is Barretts so I think I will go out and buy a lottery ticket o wait that¢s for some thing good and my luck is bad so forget that as if it was not for bad luck I would have no luck at all LOL. Guest guest
Hey Everyone, You can also raise the head of your bed 6 inches with bed raisers under each post at the head of your bed or make your own. I made mine out of wood and just slid them under the post, then you don't have to mess with raising the matteress. Although I don't need them anymore, because I had to have the lower 1/3 of my esophagus, stomach, and 3 1/2 feet of my colon removed due to Still's. Not to scare anyone, it is rare for this to happen at such severity. It may have been prevented to some extent if my Still's would have been diagnosed earlier. Lots of Hugs, ________________________________ To: Stillsdisease Sent: Wednesday, December 17, 2008 3:04:05 PM Subject: Re: GERD/HEITIAL HERNIA Possible help and every one Most of the things on your list I have tried and most have worked to a point. the raising the head of the bed was the best one but do not do it with pillows as that only squeezes your stomach and makes the problem worse you have to raise your head by a wedge between the box spring and mattress and or the bed frame it's self. now the one part you did miss is were I am at and that is if left untreated it can as it has for my self damage the esophagus. this can be by perforating it or burning it to wear the body tries to repair it the best way it can and that is by changing the cells of the esophagus to be more like the lining of the stomach or intestines for the lower 2 or 3 inches of the esophagus were it meats the stomach.
