Guest guest
-Geri...Hi and welcome...I dont have RA but I do have scleroderma-lupus......and the red ,mottled hands was one of the first symptoms I had when all my trouble started...raynauds is not always caused by cold, stress can cause it also or getting excited...it is not uncommon in the autoimmune diseases to have raynauds. When your hands feel full do they also feel tight ? Do you have pain?....anyways I hope that helps and I am sure that the others can tell you more about the RA connection , but my understanding is it is not uncommon to have raynauds with most of the autoimmune diseases...Kathi in OK -- In @y..., " geri287 " <G_Lab@a...> wrote: > Hi, > I'm fairly new to the group & am still waiting for my appointment > with the rheumatologist to confirm a diagnosis of RA, but I've got > another question. Guest guest
Kathi, Thanks for the info - I always thought Raynauds was only when your hands got cold & blue. Thanks for setting me straight on that one! ;-) I can't wait to see the rheumotologist & maybe start getting some answers to these strange things that are going on. In answer to your questions: Yes, when my hands do feel full, they do feel tight. And I do have pain in my hands, but not necessarily when they become red. I have pain in different areas of my hands, wrists & fingers. Sometimes I wake up crying because they hurt so much. In talking to my Mom I found out that my uncle (her brother) had RA, scleroderma & polymyositis. I'm not sure if these diseases are familial, but it's good to know so I can inform the doctor. I'll be sure to let you know what I find out next week. Have a nice 4th of July & thanks again.
