Drug-Induced Lupus Erythematosus

There are about 80 different drugs that have been linked to drug induced

lupus including Enbrel, Remicade, Celebrex, beta-blockers, penicillin,

tetracyclines, dilantin, INH, oral contraceptives, and various vaccines.

This mechanisms remain poorly understood. It is generally believed to be an

immunologic hypersensitivity reaction

Drug-induced lupus does not progress to kidney or central nervous system

involvement as it does with common SLE and symptoms. Drug-Induced Lupus

usually goes away when the drug is discontinued.
