Hi

My daughter has enlarged kidneys and her spleen is enlarged also. She

has scoliosis and I wanted to know if that had something to do with her

kidneys being like that? We have some appointments with several

Doctors.I want to know what the treatment would be.Thanks

Have any labs been run? CBC? Kidney function? The kidneys and spleen

both have a part in the production of red blood cells, as does the

bone marrow. I think I would (and I'm not a health care provider so I

could be way off) be most interested in ensuring all aspects of that

are normal. The scoliosis could be another symptom of something

causing that and the organ enlargement.

Hi Tammy,

With both kidneys enlarged and bone involvement it sounds like

Erdheim-Chester disease. Has this been ruled out?

I too have very unique medical problems. A problem when I am in the sun is I

produce too much vitamin d which in turn eats away at my bones and causes them

to lose clacium which builds up in my blood then collects in my kidneys causing

stones.

I have heard that this is a very rare thing, has anyone else had issues with

kidney stones and is on the autism spectrum?

It took over 2 years for this diagnosis to be diagnosised. I suffered over 17

surgeries for blocked kidneys, large stones, and issues related to both. Very

painfull.

Ouch.

I have mild scoliosis but my kidneys are fine, apart from getting stones because

I'm on Topamax and a high fat/high protein/low carb diet.
