Guest guest
Hi Suzan,   I am from the northern end of the state, Chicago area, but my sister-in-law is from Albion Illinois -kind of near you..they go 'shopping'' in ville...  I was just diagnosed with Stills in October of this year...very strange disease!! I was on 80 mg. of prednisone but I am getting weaned off and I am down to 30 mg. this week and also on methotrexate (4 pills of that a week). My hair is falling out (thinning-they say). At first my appetiet was bad and I lost weight but now i think it is getting better...The last 2 weeks I have had a craving for fruit soooooo bad that as I was cutting up one of those small seedless watermelons and putting it in tupperware to et at different times, I said 'forget it'' and sat and ate the whole thing!!! I can't believe i did that!  I ate a whole watermelon!! lol  So I have to watch it now and thank goodness it is fruit and not fattening...but I do get bloated fast and then I stop eating...I do not know when I will be off of the meds  I will go to the Dr. next week and see.  I have been off of wok since September....I get toooo weak and dizzy and then the swelling is still here at times.  I work at a trauma hospital in the C.T. Department (C.T. technologist) and I work midnights...I am supposed to stay away from ''stress'  yeah right try working there (we get all the e.r. patients-  gunshots, sickos, drunks, gang bangers, real sick people, heart attacks, car accidents...you name it...so I don't know how to avoid stress there). But my boss is real understanding and said to ''get well and we will hold your job''...so that is good...I just hate being away at this time because Christmas is the best time to be at work...everyone is in a good mood and census is slower...I will probably go back when it starts getting busy and bad weather. Oh well..enough venting for today take care Diane  42 Hi all! Im Suzan from ville Indiana. Im in the process of being diagnosed with stills disease. Im on 40 mg of prednisone right now and 100 mg of azathioprine. Do these meds sound right for this disease? Lord do i want to start weaning off the pred soon though. My face is breaking out sooooo bad and i want to eat everything in site. Ive been on the pred for like 3 months already but doc wants me to stay on it for another little while. Other than that im feeling pretty good. I sure as hell dont want the nasty arthritis pains to come back anytime soon. Look forward to chatting soon. Bye for now. Guest guest
Sorry you're here but you found a great place. Prednisone.....hopefully they can get you off of it as fast as possible. I've been on it for almost 4 years now, and it took me until this last month to finally attempt to go below 5mg/day. I now have osteoporosis in my spine among other goodies....like my body that I worked so hard to build up that looks like hell now and such. Pred. will drive you crazy, and affects your mood among other things. Best of luck to you, and welcome to the group. You'll find this place & people to be outstanding, and make yourself at home with us. Guest guest
Hi , I'm not sure if that is your first name or your last name, please let us know.My name is Elly and I was diagnosed in 1992.I am not really sure about the natural meds,I have been on many drug regiments over the years though. At the moment I take one 17.5 Methotrexate shot and 2 enbrel shots a week.Plus Vicodin 750 mg every 4 hours and many other things. It seems when I get used to one drug cocktail, something stops working or something new comes on the market and I am switched. It sounds as if you are doing fairly well right, especially if you can work a whole day. That is a wonderful place to be.Welcome to our family.hopefully you will gain much insight into the workings of Stills. There is usually someone here who has a similar case as someone else.If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.I am sorry you have to be here but glad you found us.We are like a big family with many loving caring members. Guest guest
Thanks to everyone on the group for such wonderful welcome to the group responses. I understand how individual results will vary, there seems to be a lot of contributing factors, so I'm really looking forward to chatting with all of you as I move forward with this disease. I start my MTX today and I'm hopeful that it will " agree " with me, I'm a bit concerned after reading some of the post that it may not, but I really want to get off the Pred ASAP .. I have noticed that at the lower dosage of Pred that although I don't register a fever I'm consistently having night sweats, any thoughts on that? Thanks in advance for the comments. s Dallas, TX
Guest guest
Welcome to the group ! Very sorry that between rest and work, I cannot get online very often. I have night sweats almost every night. I am truly thankful the fevers are gone. Pred did stop my fevers but added weight gain. I am currently taking MTX and Remicade (every 6 weeks). I have just learned to cope with the night sweats and it really beats having fever. Love and Care, Angie V. Guest guest
Hi and Angie, I am also on methotrexare and prednisone.  I started out with 80mg. of  prednisone but I am being weaned slowly..I am now at 20 mg. of pred. I started out at 4 pills once a week of the methotrexate..10 mg. and last week I was upped to 15 mg.   Sooooooo I take 15mg.methotrexate once a week and 20 mg pred. every day... Then after one more week I go down to 15 mg. pred.  we shall see  I was doing fine last week but now since changing the doses, my wrists are stating to hurt more so. We shall see..maybe it is just this great Chicago weather we are having. =) Take care all...preayers to EVERYONE! Diane  42 Welcome to the group ! Guest guest
I am in Wis. and raw milk can be sold on the farm - cowshares, goat shares, pet milk and thru private memberships (LLC). > > Let me introduce myself and my family. We are living in Union Grove, Wisconsin where we currently are milking 6 dairy goats both Alpine and Nubians. Next spring we should be up to 12 milkers. We are on DHIA and I use the milk for our family and enjoy making cheese and need to learn to make butter better. > > My husband is currently living in Wichita, Kansas and we hope to move all goats and household if our house ever sells. Selling a house in the middle of a financial crisis is not easy, we have already had one sell fall through due to buyer no longer being able to get financing. Anyway we (my son and daughter milk with me) are looking forward to moving to a state that allows raw milk to be sold on the farm. My son Calvin designed and owns www.TheSemenTank.com a free website for people to list dairy goat semen they own for sale. > > Jackie Eastwood > www.FiddlersRidgeDairy.com >
Guest guest
I am very happy to have found this group. I provide special instruction to kids and their families through the Early Intervention Program in NY. I do aba, vb, and incorporate elements of more relationship oriented modalities. I started questioning the difference in numbers of boys and girls being diagnosed with asd's because I see differences in the little girls and boys I work with. I look forward to reading the experiences of girls and women on the spectrum as well as parents and other professionals, and contributing whatever I can. I am very interested in finding out about any research that addresses these differences.
