Guest guest
Listmates in Austin, Well, God always balances things I guess -- in light of the Radio guy's insane remarks, this mom below contacted me on a separate issue. If anyone in the South Austin area would like to contact her - please do so at her e-mail address. She seems really willing to help however she can. Autism Society of Austin????? Sincerely, Guppy Subject: Volunteer Ideas? To: MGuppy@... Date: Tuesday, July 22, 2008, 8:34 AM Dear , I read your wonderful poem " God's Beautiful Butterfly " and had to write you. I am the mother of a 3-year-old with mild developmental delays, which has opened my eyes and heart to kids with autism (and their parents). After seeing the documentary, " Austism: The Musical, " I find myself wanting to reach out and see what I might do with these beautiful butterflies of children. I have all kinds of experience, some which might be relevant, much which isn't. I've had a kids gardening business, facilitated groups for adults in creativity, practice meditation, organized volunteers for projects, etc, etc. Really, I am up for anything: helping clean an overwhelmed parent's house, running errands, being a " big sister " to a kid with autism, a friend to a single mom, bringing my son Ian on play dates. It doesn't matter what. I just feel the need to do something, to connect with and learn from this community. If you have any ideas (or millions of them), I would be very grateful for the help. Feel free to email me at this address, whenever you get a free moment. Thank you in advance for the help, Marie
