Guest guest
Carol, I am appalled that your husband does not want you to even try the antidepressant. It is wrong to have the mind set that people would not possibly benefit from a new med. If you were diabetic would he disapprove of insulin? If you had a seizure disorder would he not approve of an anti convulsant? If you had cancer how about no chemotherapy? Or heart disease no digoxin? How about birth control? How about pain relief during childbirth? How about Remicade one of the new drugs for RA? It is 2002 not 1902. Also it is your health and your body.No one wants to take medication needlessly but if it is something that you have discussed with your health care provider that should be the criteria for starting, stopping or trying a new medication. I thank God every day that I was born in an age that we have these new drugs being developed and coming onto the market.I remember my family members who had RA and lived lives of severe pain and deformities. They spent years in wheelchairs because all that was available were massive doses of aspirin which was not very effective. I do not know how they managed day by day in such pain. IMy quarrel is the cost of medications not the fact that they are made.
