Methotrexate side effect?

Hi

After numerous attempts with trying MTX over the years, I now have exhausted

all other meds except Immuran with no success. With great reluctance, I have

just returned to 10 mg weekly injections once again. The deciding factor was

when the rheumatologit explained that I have very severe RA and we need to

be aggressive now before it hits more than my joints. Yes it is very bad!!!

SED rate and CRP rising in spite of treatments as well as a high RA titre.

He stated that methotrexate has shown to extend the life in those with RA

for an average of 10 more years... So guess he was trying to impress that I

am playing with fire so I will give it another shot!! I must say that it has

worked it the past..just side effects UGH!

My question is: Usually after my 2nd dose, I lose a little hair and have a

lot of fatigue for a day or two but one serious concern is the feeling of

being short of breath or winded when walking from one room to another. It

only ceases when I sit down...Has anyone had this from MTX or Immuran?(since

they are both chemo's) I did let the doctor know yesterday and of course he

said it was not the MTX but to the emergency room!! Yea right!! I know it

has something to do with the MTX but what I do not know. I do take folic

acid also each day to counter any side effects. Any ideas?

Thanks

Joanne
