Listmates,

I have in the last week, approved memberships for about 13 individuals who have

public school e-mail addresses...  from different area districts....

When we are discussing the issues and concerns we have with the public school

programs for autism -- let's be aware, and respectful, of all who may be on this

list.

Let's not just " slam " or " complain "   ---  let's be sure to share and educate and

offer solutions for those who are truly on this list to learn, and not just to

" spy " or " lurk " .

I know we share our frustrations and vent at times - that is good and needed.

But let's try and also remember to offer solutions where possible...

" This situation would have been better if we had ____________ in place...  If

the teacher had _______________ training....

Not that we, or they, can solve things easily -- but let's create an atmosphere

where this list is continually respected for the information and advocacy

efforts!

And a bit of 'caution' to any who may be on this list for the sole purpose of

breaking those positive efforts....  Any use of information in these e-mail

exhanges that is contrary to the purpose of this list, will not be tolerated.

If found out that posts from individuals on this list are forwarded or

mis-interpreted for the sole purpose of retaliation, the person doing so will be

removed from list priviledges...

I have a " banned " button - and I'm not afraid to use it!

(smile)

Disagreements are welcome - I actually welcome Special Education Administrators

and Personnel to join this list.  Share your views, but do it respectfully.

Thanks!

My autism journey isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning

to dance in the rain....

" There are some aspects of a person's life that we have no right to compromise.

We cannot negotiate the size of an institution.  No one should live in one.  We

cannot debate who should get an inclusive education.  Everyone should.  We

cannot determine who does and who does not get the right to make their own

choices and forge their own futures.  All must. "
