Guest guest
Hi Iris, It's a pleasure. I'm sorry to hear about you losing your job and having a bad flare. When I was first diagnosed my boss in my old job was horrible about it, I was working as a recruitment consultant and had been the top performer of the company for 2 years and never missed a single day off sick. I had a very bad flare and missed about 10 days of work and basically hobbled in to work with fevers and excruciating pain for two weeks before that so as not to miss work. She was horrendous, called the HR manager and told her I was a slack employee and tried to have my salary cut in half for being less productive (I never missed a placement through it all and had the right to 21 days sick leave in my contract). During all this I was offered an amazing job at another company, although I was terrified of my long term prognosis she gave me just the push I needed to jump ship and take the new job. I almost tripled my salary and got much more responsibility, I now how have a far better job than her and am coping just fine with my RA on the right meds. I've heard her department has been unable to even reach their minimum monthly targets since I've left and she might even be fired - so it just shows you, we can still be productive and what goes around comes around… I think it's a great idea for you to take up teaching, it would keep you close to what you enjoy doing and you wouldn't need to use your hands so much. When I was first diagnosed the Rheumatologist advised me not to take a job where I needed to use my hands too much. I'm lucky the main part of my job is talking so as long as my mouth can motor off I'll be fine! The exercise would be great for you as well. I hope you find some support here, we do know what you are going through as we've all felt the same things you are feeling now before. Wishing you a pain free shiny day! Hugs, Heidi _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
