Tess; I also got really upset a my local grocery store yesterday. One of the

courtesy clerks is a wonderful young woman with Down's Syndrome. She takes a

special interest in all who have the pleasure to know her. The task she

especially enjoys is helping individuals who have to use the scooters that are

supplied by the store. She will walk by your side as you exit the store, put your

grocery's in the car. Make's sure you get in the car OK and then rides the

scooter back into the store. One of the cashier's(who it turns out doesn't like

her and had been harassing her all day and does whenever she is on the same

shift as the young woman with Down's) Well this cashier (bitch) calls out so

everyone in the store can hear " You come right back now girl don't take as much

time as you did the last time and don't dawdle " In the tone you would use with a

mis-behaving 10 year old. Well the girl was almost in tears by the time we got

out of the store and out of earshot of this certain cahier. I asked her what was

wrong and the floodgates. opened up. I turns out this girl had really been

harassing her all day. Calling her over the intercom when she knew the young

lady was on break. Sending her to put a large order of groceries back and then

calling for her again. The girl says it never happens with any other employee. I

told her that as soon as I got home I would call and talk to the manager. I

called the manager who is a nice man he happened to hear this employee talk to

the young girl and told that cashier off in no uncertain terms. He said to me

that he was fortunate enough to witness the incident himself and I believe that

was what he was waiting for. I know that the young lady would not say anything

because she wants the job. The manager assured me that it would NOT happen

again. I was so happy after that.

God bless you bunches for being there for that sweet young lady. I am

so glad that mean cashier was dealt with. Sometimes I wonder where

people's hearts are! Do they even GET how much courage and strength of

character it takes for a disabled person to work in the public? They

want to have a life, more than they want to live in fear....something we

can all learn from!!!

Many Hugs...

Tess
