Guest guest
, Nice to see you here… I have enjoyed your reporting immensely on food issues; especially the milk wars, and so appreciated the discourse on your blog. Welcome to Raw Dairy! www.MajestyFarm.com " Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. I divide my residence between Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and buy raw milk in both places. These states allow raw milk sales only from farms, so I buy from a farm in Foxboro, MA, and a farm in Lyme, NH. Because the MA milk comes from ayrshire cows and the NH milk from jerseys, I get the opportunity to try two different varieties of milk, and they really do differ from each other--the ayrshire milk is white and kind of light on the fat, while the jersey milk is very creamy and, during the summer, takes on a yellow hue from increased beta carotene of the grass. I was introduced to raw milk by chance when I saw it being sold at a farmer's market. The rest is history. I feel as if my health has improved in the sense that my energy level is high, and I have fewer problems with colds/coughs during the winter. I also write and report on food and health issues, and am interested in raw milk because I think it's a barometer for a number of big issues--food-borne illness, agribusiness, and health. I write extensively about the regulatory and legal conflicts involving raw milk at my blog, www.thecompletepatient.com. In fact, I just reported on a major controversy in New York, where a raw dairy was found by the state to have listeria in its milk, while its own tests at a private lab showed no problem. http://www.thecompletepatient.com/journal/2008/8/5/caught-in-the-act-lori-and-darren-mcgrath-gain-support-for-a.html I'm looking forward to being involved with this forum.
