Guest guest
Hi Heidi, The situation with your grandmother is just awful. Of course she would be taking large amounts of painkillers if she's not being treated for her RA. She's in pain! What a shame that the doctors aren't more compassionate, and don't have more common sense. I guess none of them have lived with a chronic pain condition. I hope things work out for her and she can get the treatment she needs. Hugs, Carol [ ] Venting... Hi everyone, Just wanted to vent a little about how daft doctors can be! I am so mad! My Grandmother (who is 65 years old) had a bad fall recently (she was knocked over by an employee pushing a loading trolley in a supermarket), she has spent the last 3 weeks in hospital and had to have a full hip replacement. She lives with my aunt in South Africa, so is far from me - different countries!. Anyway the doctors told my aunt that she is addicted to painkillers and her kidneys were in bad shape because of it. So they have told her to keep all med's away from my Gran and not to give her anything stronger than Panadol if ever she complains of pain. Their " wise " opinion is that " she's only complaining to satisfy her addiction and that she is fine " . Thing is my Gran has RA and when I asked her yesterday after hearing this what kind of treatment she was on for it, the answer was NOTHING!!! No bloody wonder she's addicted to painkillers! She's been to public hospital doctors for years as they don't have enough money for private care (public hospitals are free of charge in South Africa but the care is not nearly as good as private clinics) and they have never treated her RA. Jeez these doctors drive me nuts. I am going to speak to my aunt and convince her to get her to a Rheumatologist as soon as possible even if I have to pay for it myself. Its ridiculous, she's had RA for years, it just never occurred to me that she wasn't being treated for it, she must be in a state. Sorry, I just had to share that with you all. Hugs, Heidi _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
Guest guest
Hi Heidi, I'm so sorry to hear about your gran. I think it is abhorrent to keep pain meds away from someone who needs it. Hope she recovers soon and hope you are having a pain free day. Love and Hugs, Stacey in PA
Guest guest
Heidi, This is really awful. Your poor grandmother. They are going to torture her! I hope you can convince your aunt that doctor is nuts! Print out some articles and send them to her if you have to. To not treat it and now to take away her pain meds is inhumane. Grandma is in my prayers. Hugs, a > Hi everyone, > Just wanted to vent a little about how daft doctors can be! Guest guest
> > Hi everybody. It's a beautiful Wednesday night here in NY and I haven't been outside in 3 days due to keeping makeup off of my face (Neal you should be proud). Well, in the last 7 days since I learned about the bismuth oxychloride contained in the makeup I was using, I have been doing exhaustive research on the chemical and I'm feeling just a tad bit sorry for myself and all the other women out there who have mild acne and put makeup on because the hype says it's good for acne?!??? Now I'm at the point where my sister who feels terrible for me has suggested accutane.I know way better and will not!! I've explained that I'm thru putting chemicals on any part of my body...I've been sticking to the diet more than ever in hopes that it will help me recover from this poisoning quicker. I've only been on it 6 weeks and with supplements 4, the cystic acne has existed for me for 1 year(that was when I started the makeup poison) with mild acne on and off for years-gosh I can't wait til it's just that again. All the information I've been reading warns against the bismuth and the fact that it can cause mild to severe cystic acne. I guess it's a sign of our world, put chemicals on your face then run to the dermatologist and put chemicals inside to temporarily(if that) make it go away. I'm just feeling sad that I didn't realize about this sooner and I'm an optimistic person so this won't last long. Do you know, not once did my derma-who I haven't seen in 2 months and plan not to go back to-ever asked me about the makeup I use!! Meanwhile, the bismuth blues are all over the internet. Luv, Phyllis Hi Phyllis I am proud of you for your observation. I agree that we have got a misguided view of how we should look and as a father of 2 beautiful daughters I make sure they know that beauty DOES come from the inside and what you eat affects your beauty. I had bad acne when I was younger and made the mistake, (or learning experience) of seeking a doctor's assistance. He cleared the acne and now Im paying for it. If you are like me you will see changes in your skin. I am losing creases and lines in my skin. My hair is getting darker, (I have a little grey hair) and i'm losing puffiness in my face and neck. I scratched my nose the other day and was surprised that it was smaller. My nostrils are smaller and I have less nose hair. Good job and stay the course and you will be rewarded.
